    Door Painting

Hope it helps someone Nothing worse then watching paint dry so you can paint the other sides. Of course, for new construction, my favorite method is to just paint the door in place on the hinges. I have a bunch of old hinges that I swap onto the doors for painting. Spray it...

    Stick welding aluminum

It's interesting you have it labeled 0.0 arc force. This was the first time I was wondering if I could have benefited from adjustable arc force. A couple more pics 117 amps Before and after wire brushing the flux.

    Stick welding aluminum

Figured it was a good thing for a newbie to try. Here's the broken wheelchair ramp. Probably about 20 broken or cracked welds. And the hobart 4043 stick rods that I got on amazon for $15 delivered. It took 2 and half rods to fix the ramp. So about four bucks. Saved over $150 vs having to...

Input for a multi process welder.

Well I'm a newbie welder that just ordered some aluminum stick rods to fix this wheelchair ramp. Almost every weld underneath is cracked and it's getting kind of spongey to walk on. For $15 it's worth a try to fix. If it works I think I'll run a 110v extension cord out to the barn and build...

New House Build in the Country!!!

I love build threads on TBN! Really brings out the experts ;) Five pages on a ledger, LOL. fwiw almost every basement framed with dimensional lumber around here uses the same method for the center beam. As far as the lack of a header above one opening.. It looks like there is going to a...

SSQA build using Bob Tach rebuild kit

Here it is using the other pin holes. Obviously it has more rollback and a better dump angle at full lift. Unfortunately it looks like its at about +5 degrees from vertical. I'll have to get it in an even surface to be sure. I think I could live with the latch boxes at 90 degrees if I...

SSQA build using Bob Tach rebuild kit

The pic I posted already had the curl cylinders retracted all the way. It doesn't have much roll back as is. Here are a couple more The cylinder rods could be shortened 3-4" but that seems more trouble then it's worth. If i cut on the blue to save the ears then I would have to add a wedge...

    Folding Cutting Table Question????

How about a swing out arm with an adjustment rod/bolt -- mounted on the inside of the orange legs. (Opposite face of where the hinges are.) Instead of the threaded rod use a bolt that you can use a cordless impact to raise to the right height. If you mount them offset at different heights (or...

SSQA build using Bob Tach rebuild kit

I know I need about a 65 degree back angle on the face of the ssqa. I see now that i cut the ears off straight (blue line that wont work). Ill have to see what would happen if I switch the pins to the other hole in the ears and cut on the red line. I may end up making new brackets. But that...

SSQA build using Bob Tach rebuild kit

The wedge pins are 1.21". I was going to use 1.25" dom tubing but I couldn't find any locally. I had some sch 80 pipe and 1-1/4" type l copper. The pins slide nicely in the copper and the BFH persuaded the copper into the sch 80 1.5" pipe ;)

SSQA build using Bob Tach rebuild kit

I've wanted to add a ssqa to my tractor for a while. But my metal working tools consist mainly of a grinder, stick welder and a BFH. My tractor isn't common (honda 6522) so no off the shelf solution is available. So I ordered a couple rebuild kits off ebay for a bobtach. Total cost was $145...

My 3rd and hopefully last log splitter

I got it back together. I ended up using two 3/8 grade 8 bolts on the front of each side as those are the ones that take the punishment when a log slides up the push plate. And 5/16 grade 2 for the rest. I split about a cord and a few tough pieces without any failures :)
