Thanks! Ive never seen one - didnt even know they existed as a product. I conceived and made one years ago to clean the dirt off stumps. BX1500 OPERATING TEMPERATURE

How hard do you work it and how long at a time? Working at full power -- bogging down a little and forcing you to slow a bit when mowing for instance -- the needle should go up to midrange and hold there. When ridiculously hot and working hard continuously it may drive it a little above. Short...

    Stump bucket grapple with FEL

    L2900 GST Shifting Problem

The work was done at a long established Kubota dealer. They said they used Kubota UTD acquired from Kubota in bulk/drum quantity. I can only take their word. L2900 GST Shifting Problem

Thanks! I may look there to see if the issue is discussed. -- The answer though is that there is nothing at all wrong with my tractor other than that the shop changed the fluid, refilling with UTD after the split. L2900 GST Shifting Problem

Hi. I have several Kubotas - none particularly modern - but all working fine until just recently. Then the ~ 1990's vintage L2900 I have had for 10 yrs had a circlip come loose inside that made it so that the PTO could not be disengaged. It is a known problem on this model. Kubota has an...

    How to measure hydraulic pressure?

No. Pretty much the same Force fast or slow. A FULLY warmed system may lose some force/pressure at idle because internal system leakage of the hot thin fluid will cut into the low flow available - thus limiting the ability to build pressure and therefore force. Any system pumping enough to...

    Hydraulic flow numbers

With either given motor the lowering of torque with that motor as flow decreases is because flow has to supply both motor motion and leakage through the motor. 20. S

    Hydraulic flow numbers

This is probably with the hyd fluid fully warmed. The fluid is thus thinner allowing more bypass/leakage in the motor and preventing building good high pressure across the motor. Quality of Hydraulic Fittings

I exclusively use the Jic fitted double braid hoses from SC. They have a very high pressure rating. I have many in service and have never had a failure. 36psi is a good pressure to prevent the likelihood of "de beading" or partial thereof during side load while turning - esp if you are using a loader. 42. S

Rotary Cutter Bush Hog Gear Box Leaking

Rotary Cutter Bush Hog Gear Box Leaking

I find that #2 is ok when the bushog is used in shock producing situations often. Too much smooth running is not optimum as the grease stays pushed away from gears and bearings. I like #1 or 0 which almost flows. TSC economy grease is ~ #1.5 -- its seems to work well. Convenient.
  45. S

Well pressure tank: Does well-side supply line pressure match tank pressure?

Water in the 600' line will reverse direction each time the pump turns off when the RV is using water. Some delivery effect will be noted at RV. Probably not too big an issue unless hammer develops with abrupt cutoffs in RV usage. A small surge tank at a convenient point that adds some...

Well pressure tank: Does well-side supply line pressure match tank pressure?

I think water hammer may happen in abrupt valving situation at the aux valve, but that the problem is not probable in general. Should be able to totally defuse the chance with a very small surge tank/bottle at the Tee connection point.

  52. S

Well pressure tank: Does well-side supply line pressure match tank pressure?

It will be fine. A cutoff valve in the Tee line is a good idea posed earlier. Im sure you will be entertained by the pause in the aux flow you will experience every time the pump turns off. ;)

Submersible well pump went out, thoughts?

Check and see if the pump is running overly frequently even at the lower pressure. It may be that you have a split in the, probably poly plastic, well pipe. These sometimes develop over time immediately above the pump and would explain excess running and limited pressure.

    Kubota Rear Inner Wheels Cracked

I have Kub Ls in that size range and have not had any issues, but no B/H. I recall though a prior conversation here where a cracking problem presented. There was some talk of lug torques and they were surprisingly low for 16mm bolts. I went out then and removed one of mine and slapped it back...

How does an HST compare in pulling power with the same tractor and a gear trans?

YES. Sounds like you are using full pedal. The relief is in effect as the engine dies. Think of how much hydraulic power you are dumping back into the sump. Then consider feathering the go pedal. Regardless of range, if you have enough traction the hyd pressure will exceed relief pressure and...

How does an HST compare in pulling power with the same tractor and a gear trans?

Yes. Expense - cost/benefit. Add a ~ 0-1mph range on the HST ... OR a bigger pump and motor pair on the 3 range. Hardly anybody would see a need for that because an HST will already creep, and they dont use their tractor in conditions that stress the limit of its ultimate motive force. Those...

Speed is not the issue. Ultimate Motive Force from an equal but differently transmissioned platform is.
  128. S

How does an HST compare in pulling power with the same tractor and a gear trans?

:giggle: Well, we could be a bit cautious and actually find out the true motive force limit of the tractor power assemblies. Weight the tractors heavily and pull a trailered load up a moderate hill ~ 20 degrees. Add more weight equally until the wheels stall. With the force limiting choices...
  129. S

How does an HST compare in pulling power with the same tractor and a gear trans?

Absolutely. Weight is traction. Case closed? Well-l-l no when the development does not cover a common exception that is a norm for most of us. We have tractors equipped with loaders. We ballast and counterweight by necessity to improve the force application platform. This weight is more traction...

  155. S

    JD3010 Diesel won't shift

Applying pressure to the fingers would be trying to lift the pressure plate. Essentially riding the clutch. This would favor the clutch slipping. There should be free play at both extremes of the PTO lever travel.

Hydrostatic steering drifts. The concern is why your tractor pulls to the right preferentially.
  158. S

    JD3010 Diesel won't shift

Im pretty sure my 2010 has the same kind of mechanism. The PTO lever rests in the declutch state. As you throw the lever it operates the PTO clutch, then engages the PTO gear, and then releases the clutch. Thus there is no long term involvement of the PTO throwout bearing.

Will 10 Horsepower actually matter on the same size tractor?

Hydraulic flow gives speed of motion - important for driving motors and for ultra repetitive time consuming motion like log splitting. Unless you have reason to operate a loader and grapple quite quickly you wont need high flow. Pressure is what gives you Force. That is indispensable.
  168. S

    Elevation = rough start up..?

It is to be expected with the thinner air and consequently lower compression heat. There will also be a slight?probably unnoticeable loss of power even when warmed because each lungful is a little less air than at sea level. At full load there is more likely to be an excess fuel condition -...

And it is all dependent on the burning of fuel. Air volume per revolution is the same except in turbo equipped engines where boost has developed.
  179. S

    Elevation = rough start up..?

Yes, The turbo has the ability to "bootstrap" the power up to the fuel limit setting of the injector governor. The turbo just spins a little faster to shove in more of the thinner air.

Best way to remove all methanol from tires.

For the last remanent liquid you can just blow some air into the tire and insert a small stiff tube into the pool of liquid through the valvestem as the air escapes. The air pressure will drive the liquid out through the tube.
