any toro groundsmaster fans on here?

All diesel engines should have the air bled out of the fuel systems. Air is hard on injection pumps and injectors

any toro groundsmaster fans on here?

I had a similar issue on my 220D. I don't know if you know or not, but the glow plugs also come on with the key in the start position. There should be no problem using a momentary switch to engage the starter solenoid

Is 4 year old diesel fuel any good?

Put at least 2 filters inline. A 20 or 30 micro. With a water trap. And finish with a 2 micron going into your equipment. One tank I have 5 filters on. A starter, 30 micron and then 2 - 20 microns & 2 - 2 microns in parallel. Add a lubricity additive and a big killer to every fill

Buying Advice Diesel smog emission stuff?

Friends have also had a lot of issues with electronic controls. Especially a JCB that's a few years old owned by a local township. They've had a bunch of problems with emissions and controls. It's has a lot of downtime. No loaner to be had. Neighbor has a Bobcat skid loader that the bucket...

Buying Advice Diesel smog emission stuff?

Not to mention the costs added to a new purchase and all the ensuing issues related strictly to the emissions systems. I don't know anybody that runs diesel equipment that has not had a problem.

Are diesel conditioners needed for new

When I was running B-11, Power Service tech said to double dose. I'm guessing that ratio would hold true for lower percentages

Are diesel conditioners needed for new

A good sized local truck stop, that's particular about their fuel got a bad load or 2 in. I don't remember what happened, if bio was added instead of antigel or what, but there was gelled up trucks all over the place. It cost them a lot of business and it wasn't even their fault.

Are diesel conditioners needed for new

I always used to add straight gas - no alcohol 1-500 ratio. But that was before we had a CP4 injection pump on the Ford. Gasoline is a natural biocide

Are diesel conditioners needed for new

What products do you use for biocide? Especially important for a machine that sits frequently. And for biodiesel. I've been running B11 since the 1990's. For some reason the new diesel doesn't seem to be as bio friendly. Bio provides plenty of lube, But seems a lot more bug and water...

Buying Advice Diesel smog emission stuff?

My wife bought a 2022 Kubota LX2610. She likes it. She wanted something she could use and I didn't have to work on. I find it to big for the horsepower. And lighter duty for the size than I'm used to. If your looking at an LX2610, definitely do not get the belly / mmm mower deck. We...

    Combine Turned Snow Blower

There's a lot of 4wd, tracked, rear wheel assist combines around here. The machine would need to be about 8' wide. I wouldn't want to go much wider than 10' on the snowblower

    Another rant about buying used

Are you one of those guys? I try to take people at their word. I bought a mower. The seller said all fluids and filters had been changed. After mowing the first time, I went to blow out the air filter. There was at least a 1" hole in it, expanded metal was rotted. Checked the gear box...

Looking to buy my first tractor

I hate the loader control on our little Kubota LX261. It has a very long stick to the controls. I'll never buy a loader with a fake stick. I'll take an older loader with the joystick right at the valve. I've heard of a lot of issues with the long handle stick and with the electric controls...

Anyone go from gas to electric, then back to gas?

I have both Milwaukee and DeWalt. I got the adapters so I can use the DeWalt batteries on the Milwaukee tools. I don't have enough Milwaukee chargers. Don't use my tools like I used to. So it's not worth investing a lot in tools right now.

I don't have a steam cleaner. Any thoughts on a second best plan of attack? I've been using B-11 since it was available for delivery, sometime in the 1990's. I switched to B5, last fill. I plan on skipping bio next fill and just adding Hotshots or something The new diesel sucks. I wonder if...

1963 4010 diesel Fuel Gauge 24 volt system

I heard E85 cuts the sludge. It's all bound for the burn pile. Straight alcohol was working for cleaning our hands. Going to be more on top of wearing rubber gloves from here on out. If I could find a cheap, good tank, I'd go that route. I've heard of these tank bottoms rotting out. We're...

I'd stay away from newer machines with electronics and emissions. A lot of the newer mm achiness are oversized for the horsepower or under powered for all the size of the machine. If you see are handy or lucky, you can find an older be used machine, that will most likely be better built and...
