Ford 3000 finding Top Dead Centre on cylinder 1

Hi, Any chance you have that torque setting for the delivery valve holders?

Massey Ferguson 35 Three point linkage suddenly weak lifting

The control valve has an tendency by design to stick. M F added a "wobbler" that jiggles the valve when in the pump is in motion. Works well, when it's running. And with a diverter valve in place, the TPL can only be lowered or raised when the diverter set to the the TPL. But that's normal for...

Ford 3000 finding Top Dead Centre on cylinder 1

Unfortunately, freight in and out of the US from Australia is brutally expensive. There's local injection pump technicians that can work on it. But I'm a keen enthusiast of working on old machines, so I'm interested in having a go myself.

Ford 3000 finding Top Dead Centre on cylinder 1

Hi, Thanks for the tips. Do you know how I can source the plined driver? I have access to Bare Co and Sparex, but not most of the suppliers you have available as I'm in Australia. What torque is listed for those element retainers on the Minimec?

    Inappropriate ads

Hi Eric, I haven't seen the adverts, but if they're as you describe, I don't think that's prudish at all. I think most cultures recognise the need for children to be allowed to be just children and discover their sexuality in their own time. Sexualising children before their time is widely held...

Ford 3000 finding Top Dead Centre on cylinder 1

Thanks thepumpguysc. That makes sense. The injection pump will be injecting cylinder 1 when cylinder 1 is on its compression stroke. That saves me lifting the rocker/valve cover.

Ford 3000 finding Top Dead Centre on cylinder 1

Hi, I'm about to start working on the injection pump on my Ford 3000, 1967, diesel, Simms/Minimec injection pump. To do so, I have to turn the engine to the 19deg btdc mark on the flywheel and compression stroke cylinder 1. The only way I can see to know it's compression stroke for cylinder 1...

Massey Ferguson 35 Three point linkage suddenly weak lifting

Hi, For people who may find this useful in the future: Rebuilt it with a cylinder block, rings and seal kit. It's not hard. My advice would be mark the alignment of all control valve parts: I didn't and mine is now sticky - it only drops the tpl if the pump is turning which can be annoying when...

    Loader w/out power steering

'67 Ford 3000 diesel is my other. I find it "harder working" and more comfortable for longer tasks than the MF 35 from '62. Happy tractoring!

    Loader w/out power steering

I have just finished fitting a loader to a Massey Ferguson 35. It has no power steering or live hydraulic pump, so it's hard, slow work using it. I would agree that fitting a loader to an older tractor is a questionable exercise. I wish I had saved my time and money for the time when I will buy...

    MF165 hydraulic questions

Hi, I have a MF 35 with the same hydraulic pump and clutch set up. Harry in Ky mentions a two stage clutch. It's also possible that like my 35 the clutch is single stage. Check by engaging the PTO and a gear, then raising the clutch pedal. If you can run the PTO with the clutch pedal half down...

    Massey 135 gas running rough

Hi, I noticed that you mentioned the problem started after steep hills. The MF 135 has a large, flat fuel tank and the sloshing of fuel back and forth may have dislodged debris and blocked the fuel system. Check your ignition first, then consider the following: 1. There's a small filter in the...

Normal set up of front end loader controls

Thanks rScotty And Dave M7040. The accident described is exactly what I'm hoping to avoid. I haven't been on a loader in many years, so I could learn how to use any set-up. But then I get on another loader or someone gets on mine and if it's not setup the common way, people get hurt. I'll set it...

Normal set up of front end loader controls

Hi, I have a Massey Ferguson 35 that I am fitted with a front end loader. It has single action lifting cylinders and a double action bucket cylinder controlled by two spool valves. Currently, pulling the lift lever back lifts the arms. Pulling the bucket lever back tips the bucket forward. The...

Water in gearbox oil - a cautionary tale

Hi, Thanks for the input. I like the high ethanol fuel idea, as any ethanol/fuel that remains can evaporate away. My gearbox is all cleaned up now, hopefully, but that's a tip I'll remember.

Water in gearbox oil - a cautionary tale

Hi, I just thought I'd share a story of the water in the gearbox oil of a Massey Ferguson 35. On purchasing the tractor, the gearbox oil was very milky, so the presence of water was obvious. A change of gear oil surprisingly only improved it. Despite not being left in the rain and parked under...

Diagnosing cause of deadhead hydraulics pump

Hi, I'm not sure of the set up on a Yanmar, but Ford 3000 and Massey 35 have pressure relief valves. Yanmar likely use one too. I would suggest if the hydraulic pump pressurised any part of the system to failure, then the relief valve may have failed. Not suggesting that a failed relief valve...

    Hydraulic oil settling out

Perhaps we should if it's been around for a while. I had a drum of STOU aka UTO aka Universal oil that was 5-15 years old. It came with the property. When I removed the top of the drum to use it as a container, there was a soap like semi solid stuck to the bottom. I'm sure that should be mixed...

Solar PV panel Hot Water System

Hi Cam, Yes, I've considered the battery option. My son will take a look at the circuit board soon and see if the "brain" is isolated to allow it to be kept on 24/7. A simple "battery as supply" solution fails of course as the supply to the heating element would flatten the battery fast. Old...

Ford 3000 Delphi Cav pump issues

Hi, I read something about a technique to increase the output of a diesel motor by increasing the injection pump output. Perhaps this is the reason a pump capable of running a larger ci engine was fitted, likely after the original one needed repair. I would stick with a 175 ci pump and the...

Solar PV panel Hot Water System

Hi, Just discovered that the thermostat won't reboot on its own in the morning as the sun rises. I suspect it can't cope with the variable voltage and amperage that occurs as the panels are progressively struck by sunlight. I'll have to find a work around.

Solar PV panel Hot Water System

Hi, The brand is Kaneka and they're thin film silicon which is the type needed for improved output in overcast conditions compared to regular panels. They produce 60V, which is unusual but handy as that reduces the amperage required. Beware of the danger of this voltage and that laws may require...

Solar PV panel Hot Water System

Hi, If you heat water in winter off the wood fire, then making a solar hot water panel for sunny days is a good idea. I would think online resources would describe how. MF 135 Power steering issues

Hi, Yes, if no9 is a seal, that's what I reckon is the trouble. Regards the leaking into your sump, it's unlikely that oil gets out, but if it did you won't see it. I'm suggesting this is a leak allowing air in. That's why you can't purge the system no matter how much you try. I would...

    MF 135 Power steering issues

Jwr has nailed it. The air leaks inward on the suction side. For a seal to fail in this way is very different from a seal leaking a fluid out, so it's pretty easy event for there to be no oil leaking out while air gets in. Additionally, the seal that fails is on the input drive shaft of the...

    Battery dying or belt slipping?

Problems with hydraulic lift up and power steering oil tank overflows oil

Hi Ruud3a, I'll let someone else answer the hydraulic issue, but I have suggestions for the power steering oil issue. I had a similar issue on a Ford. It started for no reason or cause that I could see. The oil was overflowing because it was foaming and the air massively increased the volume...

    Ford 1600 High Oil Pressure

That's an impressive amount of energy you're capturing, to heat a pool. Panels here are "dumped" onto the second hand market as people upgrade their systems. I picked up 3000W of panels for Au$100~Us$66. I only installed 1000W and am yet to see the winter performance.
