First use of the 4820! Tilling.

I've tilled the field 4x to get a nice seedbed from the turf that existed. Spent 10 hours and 12 gallons of diesel to do so. Cleaned the screen today and checked to make sure it came with both the inner and outer air filters, as I've seen some post their tractors did not. Yup, both are installed!

What have you done to your Branson today?

Cleaned the radiator screen... Sorta wish it pulled from the side like others. You have to remove the air intake tube above it and the radiator overflow hose that is routed over it... Blew the whole thing off with a blower too, as it was a little dusty tilling the new field one last time last...

    Retirement thoughts Past Present Future

We have been exploring the idea of me early retiring. We actually came to the conclusion that I could do so at 50, if the wife maintains a job for insurance. We will have enough saved outside retirement for 10-15 years, and our retirement savings are already in place. It helps we have have...

What have you done to your Branson today?

A kit, but I did add flow restrictors on my own to make it more controllable.

    Garden tractor life span

I can’t imagine replacing a mower every 5 years. I hope to get 10+ from my Hustler… at $12k to replace, that seems about as short as I’d like.

Recommendation/guidance for a hydraulic top link

I purchased from Agristore USA. One day ship. Great pricing, and everything is usually in stock. The cylinder was made in Italy, not China. Well packaged, shipped… I have 10 hours on mine running a 72” tiller in clay and it’s been rock solid. As for length, depends on the min and max on...

My hyro doesnt use hydro oil, it uses a synthetic engine oil, as I recall, most do not use hydraulic oil. I have Parker transmissions

Garden Tractor, blade to spindle nut, how do you torque the nuts properly?

I give mine a few raps with an impact wrench and let it ride. I used to get hung up on it, now I don’t care.

Have you ever bought a tractor from a listing in another state, not in person?

I’ve learned over time there are no good deals at an auction sight unseen. It’s a good deal, because of what you don’t know.

    Who makes the MT3 engine

I just like knowing I’ll never have to post that my tractor is throwing codes and in limp mode. Some of these things have been running 300 hours without a regen. I’d say 80% of my use is at 2600 rpm… so we will see how it goes.

    Honey bees

We are in zone 5B. So, probably. Our swarm season came a couple weeks early this year, probably due to the warm temps in April we had.

    Who makes the MT3 engine

MTron makes it. It is electronic fuel injection. The engine is controlled by an ECM, unlike the Kukje diesel. The LS engines are at the mercy of the ECM

I'm adding frames tomorrow. The acre of white clover I seeded two years ago his filling in nicely, and blossoming this week. Lots of bees activity on it. I'm still a couple weeks from seeding my acre of buckwheat. All 8 colonies are doing well. Three years into no feeding or treating and we...

    4WD and loader work

This is my first 4wd tractor. Thus far in a soft and fluffy field, tilling and general loader work, I’ve not needed 4wd. I use it, if I need it… which is/will be rare. It’s nice to have, but growing up, none of the old IH tractors on the farm had 4wd assist. The 4820 Branson is over 5000#...

    Beat the Choke A Matic

Last week my son had an unfortunate incident where the trail mower I have him run, threw a rod through the side of the crank case. I'll be over my field once more before I plant at the end of the month, so another 2 hours or so this month. I have used it for moving heavy beehives to and from the barn, and will use it this week to lift a motor off a mower deck. Its a very useful tool, for all sorts of projects
