Spindle replacements for John Deere X380

The grease zert is for show. The bearings are permanently sealed. I also found another source of noise. The pulley on top of the spindle has a weakly defined octagon shaped hole to fit the shaft. Once it begins to slip it rounds out the hole. No amount of tightening will keep it from...

    Ford 3930 Losing power

It's taken on a new behavior that I believe is fuel related. When I first crank it, I can get up to 2,000 RPM. Under load that drops to about 1,700. As I move down the field, rpm's drop to about 500. However, if I shut it down and let it rest for 30 seconds, it cranks again and will run at...

Spindle replacements for John Deere X380

I think the noise being created by the 54 inch mower deck on my John Deere X380 is coming from the spindles. I could also be the blades. I called the dealer about spindle replacements and they were over $100 each. I know that they have the sealed bearings in them, so adding grease was a waste...

    Ford 3930 Losing power

Thank you, Harry. That eliminates one variable. When the PTO is not engaged, I can get the RPM's up to about 1,700 1900. Sometimes they get to 2,200, which I consider full speed. It is the variation in speed that leads me to think there may be some crud in the fuel lines or air leaking in...

    Ford 3930 Losing power

My Ford 3930 has started losing RPM's. When I pull the throttle lever to full speed I get 1,500 to 1,700 rpms. Full speed used to be 2,200. Is there a chance the throttle cable slipped or is it more likely that it's crud in the fuel lines? Also, how much rpm diminishment should I expect when...

    PTO Chipper

Thanks to all of you for the well researched replies. I have set a $3,000 limit, so I am probably looking to find a used one. My goal is to clean up the year long shedding of the trees and build a mulch mountain for the garden. $3,000 only buys about 6 pallets of mulch from HD.

    PTO Chipper

I have a Ford 3930 and am wondering if it can power a PTO chipper without wearing out some critical component. Would I be better off buying a separate chipper? I plan to use it to chop trees that we clear for mulch. What's a reasonable price range for a used one? Thanks.

    Ford 3930 FEL Cylinder leaking

There are 4 cylinders total. Two rotate the bucket and two lift the arms. Having replaced the rotate the bucket cylinder, the lift the arms cylinder is now leaking. Does the viscosity if the hydraulic fluid matter in this context? Thanks.

Replace fuel injectors in Ford 3930

Thank you for the offer thempumpguysc. I ran some SeaFoam through it and it seems to have helped considerably.

Replace fuel injectors in Ford 3930

Well, this has turned into an adventure. I was able to remove the battery and tray without removing the front-end-loader. Imagine my surprise when the fuel injectors I ordered did not fit the tractor. The cover on the tip was a different size. When I called the parts people they asked me to...

Replace fuel injectors in Ford 3930

Thank you tractor tech. Even with the FEL fully raised there is not enough clearance to swing the battery tray out because of the side braces. Looks like taking the battery out is my only option.

Replace fuel injectors in Ford 3930

Having watched a wonderful video on replacing the fuel injectors on a Ford tractor, see , I decided that would be my next project. Imagine my surprise when I went to swing out the battery box and realized the front-end-loader was in the way. If I take the battery out can I get to the injectors...

    Tire loses inflation when turning.

The right front tire on my Ford 3930 has a slight leak. I add air about once a week to keep the pressure at about 36psi. I have noticed that the side wall flexes and it loses most of its air when turning. Is that the sign that the tire (about 5 years old) has lost the will to live?

    Ford 3930 FEL Cylinder leaking

I found a local shop that rebuilt my cylinder for $200.00 I guess they must make their own seal kits. It's working great.

    Ford 3930 FEL Cylinder leaking

Thank you Tractor Tech. That kit is now $258.00 at Messicks. However, I was impressed at how quickly the got me a replacement brake release, even though I can't figure out why that should cost more than about $80.00.

    Ford 3930 FEL Cylinder leaking

The right side cylinder on my Ford (New Holland) 3930 front end loader (Model 7309) has started leaking. Should I look for a re-build kit or just buy a new cylinder. Any video's on how to repair that? Thanks.

Dual Cylinders on 1997 Ford 3930 Fuel Filter

Thank you for all the help. Replacing the filter was much easier that I anticipated. I unscrewed the bottom and the filter came out with some minor tugging. Even though I had turned off the valve from the fuel tank, it still leaked. So, I used that stream to fill up the new filter and pushed...

Dual Cylinders on 1997 Ford 3930 Fuel Filter

The owner's manual on my 1997 Ford 3930 (New Holland) shows a dual cylinder fuel filter. The filter on the tractor now is a single filter (SF 10082). Is one arrangement any better than the other? The dual filter has clear bowl that I assume traps water. Why wouldn't the single filter need...

Changing fuel filter on NH 3930

My 1997 operator's manual shows a dual cylinder fuel filter assembly. The previous owner replaced that with a single filter (SF 10082). Was there a reason that he might have done that and are there any pointers on replacing this filter? Also, there appears to be some sort of drain nipple at the...

    Harrow Disc Replacement

I borrowed my neighbors disc harrow and I need to replace a disc that broke on my watch. I can't find a manufacturer's name on it. The discs are 19 inches in diameter. There are 10 discs on the back row and what appears to be one long shaft running through them, with a 2 inch square nut on it...

    Ford 3930 FEL Joytick Hoses

There are 4 short hydraulic hoses in the joytick controller for my front end loader on my Ford 3930. One of them split. Can I find replacement hoses for inside the controller or will I have to buy a new controller? Where would you look for those kinds of parts? Thanks.

    Snow Melter

I found a snow melt that won't harm my dogs or cows. The chemicals used won't hurt them if they eat it or it gets absorbed through their feet. It's Morton Safe-T-Pet and I found it on sale at http://www.provetlogic.com/for-the-home-and-business/morton-safe-t-pet-ice-melt.html. I also like the...

Price Check  Pricing and opinion Ford 3930

My neighbor is offering me a 1997 Ford 3930 with 250 hours on it for around 14K. The machine seems well maintained. It has Ford's FEL with a hay fork. The engine has a turbo on it. (Why would I need that?) The price seems about right but I wanted to see if there were any known major service...

    Where was Zetor hiding?

I noticed my first ad for Zetor in "Small Farm Today" and was really impressed by the footprint. The ad said they have been around since 1946. Were they under another name? I went to their website and the one thing I couldn't figure out was whether the 4 wheel drive models are only the...

Chipper  PTO Chipper - Useful or misplaced?

I could use a good chipper. The commercial diesel engine units cost over 10K. Is there a PTO driven model that would fit a Ford 3000 that would make economic sense? I don't want to tear up the tractor by asking it to do more than it was designed for, but this seems like a way to not have to...

Parts Box Attached to Ford 3000

My neighbor is kind enough to loan me his Ford 3000 when I need to mow my fields. I would like to repay his kindness. He has expressed an interest in having a box affixed to the tractor to hold clip-pins, wrench, etc. I have seen some for newer tractors, but not for the Ford. Does anyone...
