    Opinions on older diesel trucks

Our 2008 f350 needed bow thrusters to help it turn, what a pain. Wife totaled it out and whoever buys it at auction is gonna get a hell of a deal. New 6.4, turbos fuel pumps studded with aftermarket heads, radiator, transmission. New driveshafts and shocks. All with less than 35k on it. Chassis...

GM recalls 721K trucks with 6.2L engine

We recently went used truck shopping since my wife totaled out our 1 ton and decided to go back to a 1/2 ton. Looked at a real nice 2022 chevy. Seen it had a 6.2 and walked away. It's still there. Engine sounded good but not gonna take the risk.

    Rant against insurance agencies

That was a big part of the problem. Our old agent was great, he was johny on the spot any time any problem was brought up. He retired. This new jack wagon is MIA. Can't get ahold of him. We stop in there and he's always gone. Doesn't return calls, etc The secretary who does her best swears he...

    Rant against insurance agencies

It's not the fact they totalled it out. Older truck, parts could be find, etc. The fact it took 3 weeks to get someone to physically look at it ( body shop said an adjuster for them lives 5 miles down the road) and they told my wife that we made them mad and they will screw with us ( in no...

    Rant against insurance agencies

Got word beginning of last week they are totalling out our 2008 f350 after my wife wrecked it. This whole process has been going on for 5 weeks. For the last week, they are giving us every reason in the world not to give us a pay out. State farm has never done us wrong until now. They told my...

    Bobcat 324 fuel issue?

Thanks. I'll check it out and see what I get. Figured pressure was pretty low since typical hose clamps were used. Went out tonight and checked in the filter drain, no water.

    Bobcat 324 fuel issue?

Been going through my maintenance manual and it basically only covers the injection pump and injectors. I know the pressure it's supposed to put to the injectors but doesn't give a feed pressure to the pump. Gotta do more research on that. 10 year old machine, has 1500 hours on it and even...

    Bobcat 324 fuel issue?

Checked the air filter thinking the same thing but it was clear all the way down. Also have an OEM fuel filter coming. It's intermittent problem which is frustrating. Wife used it the other day and ran great until she put it back in the barn and then it started bugging down again.

    Bobcat 324 fuel issue?

2014 model. Has the kubota 722 engine in it. Never had a problem with it. A couple of weekends ago I was using it and it would start to bog at high RPM with no hydraulics being used. I would bring it down to idle and back to full and no issues. 5 minutes later start to bog again. Figured maybe...

    Should I buy this truck?

Sorry but I know Allison's. I can build all 6 lines they produce. The 3k and 4k don't have an oil pan per say. If you have to pull the control mod "pan" for some reason, the valve body comes out with it. Be sure and unhook the harness from the block.pre gens have a whip harness and gen 4's have...

    Should I buy this truck?

Actually, if you compare the size between a 3k and a 4k, oil capacity is about the same. As 5030 said maintenance is everything. Most of the failures I have seen is cooler failures. Early models had a C3 pressure switch that would fail. Allison has a recall out on it but that has ended. Good...

    Should I buy this truck?

Actually they are used interchangeably. Generally they are behind higher HP engines. I know garbage trucks run both and also coach busses. It's basically the same transmission. If you have worked on the 3k, then you are familiar with the 4k family. Just bigger and heavier parts.
  21. Joel/ak

    Should I buy this truck?

Surprised it has a 4k tranny in it. 3k is a solid transmission if maintained. I've built many of both.

Neighbor's tree fell on my property, now ???

Yeah it sucks when trees fall on lines, we all know that. Couple of years ago, a red pine in my front yard fell and took out the lines to my neighbors house, ripped the tower off his roof and jacked up his power to the box. I just told him to give me the bill for the electric company to fix...

How do you store your outside generator?

I keep ours in the mud room of our walk out basement. 11kw, plug into the house (running outside of course) and let it go. I'd like a stand alone but in 11 years, never had an outage that lasted more than 18 hours. Hard to justify the cost

A more realistic thing for me vs a new truck is for my neighbors to respect property lines. In MI, that is asking alot. Found this yesterday. Old rail road bed, we own 50 ft on each side of center of bed. Guy up front thinks he owns it and he cleared a section to put up a power pole to the...

As a ford guy, I will admit the Cummins is a much better engine. After the 7.3 ford has gone downhill on diesels. Whether it be the 6.0, 6.4, or the 6.7, all have some significant issues. The Cummins just works

Something you want but can’t get or afford.

No offense taken. The 6.4 is sketchy but an aftermarket long block and heads, bullet proofed, aftermarket radiator with new turbos and fuel pumps, also straight pipe all the way out the back helps. What i paid for it, it was way less then what the old owner put into it

Here in MI on alot of the trails is a 60" max width rule, hell, even alot of the sxs's aren't technically legal. Although DNR doesn't say to much about it unless your driving like an ass. When we got our '22 mule pro MX I crapped my pants at the 14k price....and that's cheap

Nice day today. Mid 70's and mostly sunny. Went to a friend's house and dropped a tree for him. He doesn't exactly have any experience on how to do it while standing. Dump Trucking & Dump Trailering

This why I don't let my wife drive it. She atleast grabbed a shovel. Raising our road. Hydraulics are only rated for 5 ton but it works. Luckily gravel yard is only a couple miles down the road. Unfortunately, rust took over and it's not really road safe, IMO so now we just use it to move...

    Trailer recommendation for MF GC1725MB

We use a trailer from TSC. The double axle. Rated for 5500lbs ( I believe) and with the trailer weighing around 1500lbs, plenty of left over for what your looking for. For a new trailer, not bad on price. 14ftx6 in size. We haul our 1705 with various attachments and also the bobcat 324 mini...
