    Solid bottom grapples

I don't take offense, but I've used both and the clamshell is far superior for grapple functions imo. The other type excels in lifting tasks like forks. I have forks, so I don't see the need for that type of grapple.

Tractor or skid steer? Just bought 150 acres.

It don't deal with rocky soil. I can't believe I have to actually say that. Not to mention there are so many vines it would entangle a tiller in minutes. A tiller wouldn't last a half hour making roads around here. A harrow does great. Less to mess up too when rocks are encountered.
  14. MechanicalGuy

Tractor or skid steer? Just bought 150 acres.

A tiller? Talk about a bad plan. Using a harrow and then a bb is how it should be done. I wouldn't dream of attempting that with a tiller.

I think if I find a post hole diggers, I will have a full set!

Ball ends wouldn't help this. And most tractors don't have ball ends here anyways. If you get a hydraulic side link and move it to its extents on both ends, there is a good chance that you will wallow these holes out.
  41. MechanicalGuy

I think if I find a post hole diggers, I will have a full set!

Not sure what exactly you're talking about. The links in my picture, as well as the cylinder, have a clevis fitment. There are two pieces straddling the lower side link hole. That makes three holes in a line that aren't spherical ball end joints, but instead are just holes through thick steel...

  44. MechanicalGuy

I think if I find a post hole diggers, I will have a full set!

Because the lower links, depending on how your tractor is set up, don't have enough play to allow different heights on them. My mx5200 doesn't anyway.
  45. MechanicalGuy

I think if I find a post hole diggers, I will have a full set!

Like I said though, my blade has a tilt cylinder so the side link is only good for my box blade-which does have use That side like will also cause some hole wallowing on the three point if you use it to the best of it's ability.
  46. MechanicalGuy

I think if I find a post hole diggers, I will have a full set!

Oh, my scrape blade has three cylinders already, so I don't need the side link to float unless I'm using the box blade. I went all out on a scrape blade, but I forgot that some are cylinder-less.

No, that article did not state that the Aisin was better than an Allison, if that is what you are implying.

It's 2021, and the big three don't offer very "great" trucks for towing.

The point of this thread isn't how much you think of the Aisin, it's about getting an economical gas truck. You can't get the Aisin/Cummins combo for less than 55k. I'm not looking for that as "economical". I have listened to numerous hot shot truckers who put hundreds of thousands of miles on...

It's 2021, and the big three don't offer very "great" trucks for towing.

the Aisin may be up to the task, but it is NOT as good as the Allison. You can feel good about yours if you want, but no one, and I mean NO ONE, has said that it is as good as the Allison. I never said the Aisin couldn't be shifted manually. and it isn't about "outpulling" a cummins, I want to...

FYI regarding the Ford 10 speed; Tow Piglet has nothing good to say about it after tens of thousands of miles on at least one truck with it, DS Trucks didn't have 10k on his and had a shifting problem that he thinks he was able to "tune" out of it with a high dollar laptop and a computer tuning...

well if you want a truck, you're kinda limited these days. $30-45k for 200k on the ODO for the used trucks, gas OR diesel, and it makes more sense to buy new. I'm just not at all happy with the truck market now. Not on any level.
