I was just looking at pictures of the PT 425 and the PT 1430, and it looks like those hydraulic couplers are at different elevations. It appears that the PT 425 always had the couplers in that raised position compared to the 1430. So, I’m just correcting myself! I don’t mean to confuse anybody.

Something I notice on this new model compared to one’s made around 2016 is that the pipes for the hydraulic couplers are in a higher position. So, obviously the hoses hook up on top of that rotating pipe. With mine it fits better when running the hoses underneath that rotating part on the FEL.

The stump jumper is 20” in diameter and the blades are 22” from the center of the hole. This is probably my favorite attachment, because I’m so amazed of how much work can be done with it. It’s also such a crude machine, as it has no mercy on brush or small trees.

I was looking at the PT bush hog and thinking about how I could redesign the angle of the quick attach plate, and then I saw that hole that I forgot about. This made everything easy thanks to some Power Trac engineer.👍

That was years ago now, and I remember I googled “stump jumpers”and came up with the size that I have. Next week I can measure the stump jumper and the blades for you. I do know where I got the bolts for it because I have that saved in a file.

Yeah, I took it to a Machine Shop and they drilled out those holes to attach it. I’ve been using it now for a few years and it works out well.

Your photos give me some ideas for my bush hog. I would like to fix the quick attach plate at an angle like yours, so that I can come down on top of a brush pile like yours can. I have the PT bush hog. I already added the stump jumper and gull wing blades.

Yeah, that makes sense about the leg room being restricted. I just cannot get over how nice of a job this guy done with retro fitting a diesel motor in the 425.

Did any of you see the used PT 425 diesel under the “Used” section on the Power Trac website? It looks like an amazing retrofit to me. It’s definitely not your common, sloppy, jury-rigged repair job.

Yeah, that subject would make for some interesting discussion. Today a Deutz repairman came to my place to deliver an alternator for the 1430, and his thoughts were that to make a stock Deutz air filter to fit on this machine, it would need to be mounted outside of the hood somewhere.

Do you think that can shroud was made by PT or Duetz? I guess I forgot about you buying the used one.

How should you use starting fluid? One time at work I seen a guy use it on a diesel engine. The air filter being a few feet away from the can and someone cranking the engine over, he sprayed a mist of it into air, it got taken in through the air filter and started.

The 425 I had with the Subaru engine was a major disappointment when I found out how hard it is to start in cold weather. Looking back now, what I would’ve done was had some kind of a heater on it 24/7.

I’m not sure? I noticed on the PT Website that under the price sheet, these dump trailers are not listed for the 1445, 1460, or the slope mowers.

As you can tell, it got a salt bath on the way here. As soon as we have temps above freezing I’ll wash that stuff off. Something I didn’t know until recently was that these are only made for the 1430 and gas models.

The pumps on mine have a high pitched sound if you get down close enough to them and listen. I thought it might have been an air leak, but after checking it I found out it’s not. The pumps on mine just have that sound.

No no no, there is nothing wrong with your 1430 acting slow when it is that cold out. Let it warm up for at least 10 min so the hydraulic oil can warm up. Mine does the same thing.

Those forks aren’t light duty, I have a pair and the fork part aren’t made by power trac. They are made out of some really good steel. It’s a framiliar name used for most forks on different equipment.

It turns out they are out of the Cement Mixers right now for the PT-1430, so I may be only picking up the snowblower. I wonder if them being out of stock with that mixer means they are selling allot of them right now? Has anyone heard how business has been going for Power Trac?

I like the idea of the power trac mixers. Being able to drive right up to where you’re putting it and dump it right in is what I like about it. Not to mention having it mixed up in that barrel by hydraulic power is a lot easier than mixing it up in a 5 gallon bucket by hand.

I plan on going down to Tazewell on the 12th to buy a cement mixer and snowblower. I have small concrete jobs around here that I’ve been wanting to do, so the mixer will come in handy.

On using a 90 on the wheel motor, afterwards, could you tell any difference in the power of moving forward / reverse?

With four straps or chains pulling against each other, the machine is less likely to move.

Yep, I had the same problem with the machine walking with two straps.

Someone could strap it down there. A thought that came to mind would be to make 4 places on the trailer bed fitted with D-rings dedicated to putting short straps around that red part around the wheel motors, then tightened it down.

The possible issue about the engine running too lean is an easy one to test, pull the spark plug out and see what color it is.

I take it it’s not repairable because that round stock is welded tight to the FEL? I don’t know if that means it should be greased more often? That’s the one place on my PT where I get grease all over myself if I’m not careful when hooking up the hoses to the couplers.

One of the things I noticed on the two grease fittings where the cylinder curls the bucket is that when I put the grease in it’s red and when it comes out the ends it’s black. To me it seems like an area where there’s a lot of wear and requires much-needed grease.

I never thought about that before with the grease fitting bolts. Can the bolts on our front end loader just be swapped out with these grease fitting bolts?

I agree; for a 40’ mast. This TV antenna was only about 7’ high. I said, “My word Dad, what were you thinking when you over built this?” It turned out to be a White Elephant as well.

Haha! Yeah, I know what your saying. On this 1430 I have, the leak issue was worth the wheel motors when I bought it. Every single wheel motor leaked but then sealed up. The one front wheel motor, every once in a while will seep a little bit of oil out.

That gasket there usually seals up with time from what Terry told me. I had that issue on the 425 I had years ago. I think maybe this 1430 I have leaked a small amount when I first got it at that same spot.

Most types of stainless steel are non-magnetic, right?

The fuel shut off lever on mine is in the opposite direction from yours. Mine is also a 31hp, so that could be why they are different? Here are the pictures. You can use either method for shutting off the fuel; unhook the plug or hold back that lever with something. I hope this helps.

Yeah, I can definitely see how the Chinese attachment plate would hinder your visibility. The part marked "A" is where the original handle was and "B" is the one that I welded on for the stop. The pipe being on there gets the handle away from the side a couple of inches ,so I don't skin my knuckles on that plate steel when putting the brake on/off.

Did anyone notice on the PT website under PRICES that they have on the price sheet WHILE SUPPLIES LAST beside these machines. I am not sure if this means they are going to stop making them?

I finally got the fire extinguisher on today. The parking brake lever I done last year; it gives me move leverage, more comfortable handle, and it's down out of the way so it doesn't hit my knee.

Here it is, and it works well too. I bought the pieces from different places. The stump jumper I got on eBay, the bolts I got down the road at a farm supply retail store, and the blades I bought off of Rotary Cutter Supply.

When the Hydro oil gets warm the 1430 seems to steer hard. Have any of you ever had this problem? Josh h

I bought the bare generator with a piston motor on it, then I had to make the frame and add the QA plate. The flow control valve and the high pressure filter were really expensive. Just those two things were around $800, the bare generator/ piston motor was $3000, and the hoses/fittings/couplers...

This unit has a piston motor which is rated at 12 GPM @ 2500 psi, and puts out 12,000 watts. I have it going into a flow control valve, then to a 10 micron high pressure filter, then into the piston motor.

Darn, if thats the case I'll have to get different hoses made. This is the generator attachment. I'll get some pictures posted on here after its finished.

I was wondering if someone could confirm which coupler is the inlet for the PTO. When sitting on the operators seat, the coupler to the left (which is female) is the inlet for the PTO, right? Thanks for reading, Josh
