    Trailer Tires

I've had good luck with Carlisle (Now called Carlstar) on our horse trailer. I don't care for the skimpy tread on Goodyear, they look half worn out when they're new. Almost every Chinese tire I've used has started to separate before the tread is worn down.

    4052R is DEAD

Middle of last winter I replaced the battery in the 4052R at my work and had the same issue with the battery clamp. A few minutes with an oscillating multi tool made it fit, but I was a little annoyed that Deere seems to have made the clamp to only fit their OEM battery.

    Discount tires?

A few years ago I bought a pair of Firestone SAT II tires from Simple Tire. Delivered to my house for free and the price was unbeatable at the time. I brought them to a local Les Schwab for tubes and mounting, where both the manager and the guy in the shop complained and whined that I hadn't...

How long does an engine coolant heater need to be plugged in?

In my experience 5w40 synthetic gives a noticeable increase in cranking speed when the heater hasn't been plugged in. It flows a lot better than 15w40 when it's cold.

Tractor Colors~ What Would You Pick?

Some of the tan and grey colors on recent Toyota trucks make them look like they skipped the paint, and just clearcoated the primer.

    Another rant about buying used

I borrowed a trailer and went to look at an old Yanmar YM195 on Craigslist, 3 hours away from home. I talked to the owner on the phone and he assured me "everything works." The engine was smoking and surging, the 3 point hitch didn't lift, and one of the forward gears had turned into an extra...

What's Your Favourite 2 Stroke Oil Mix Tool

I used to have a lid for my ratio rite but it didn't come with the cup, I had to buy it separately. I lost the lid so now I stretch an old sock over the top when it's on the shelf.

    A little miffed

At my work we have a 4052r and a couple older Deere garden tractors. Our local dealer, who we bought the 4052 from several years ago, is in the middle of farming country. (Lots of combines and large articulated tractors.) The sales guy is nice but it's been like pulling teeth to get him to sell...

    Plowing County Road??

On the following page is a pdf link that shows what Spokane County's plowing priorities are supposed to be. https://www.spokanecounty.org/882/Winter-Roads-Maintenance I also live in Spokane county. The road I live on has about 10 homes and is classified priority 3 residential, but I haven't...

    Starting Fluid

New injectors helped my old Yan-Deere start quicker. It was obvious when removing them that the nozzles were crusty. One in particular had a lot of buildup and was making the exhaust port slobbery as well from the unburnt fuel. If the injectors are making a poor spray pattern it's harder for...

Yellow Jacket Nests While Bush hogging, whats your plan?

Does it seem to anyone else that the yellow jacket spray cans used to work better? 15-20 years ago that stuff would drop them immediately. Now I spray a nest and half of them shake it off and start flying around.

Am I throwing money away if I by this TSC box blade

My boss got a 6' Countyline box blade for our 4052r and I wish he'd spent a little more on a heavier duty one. We haven't used it much but two ripper teeth have broken off tips and the steel is tweaked on both sides near the lift arm pins. Comparing it to other brands it is kind of a weak design.

What is the dumbest thing you have done with your equipment ?

I was about 18 and my relatives gathered to cut firewood for grandma from her property. Everyone else had quit for lunch but I went to skid one more log out of the woods to where the logs were decked behind the house. I have no idea why, but instead of shutting the tractor off or even using...

    Post Emissions tractors

My experience with tier IV emissions is limited to one tractor, but here's my story. At work we have a JD 4052R. We have had it for about 18 months (bought new) and it has around 190 hours on it. When the computer thinks it's time for a regen, it tells you to raise the engine speed to 1500...

Public Service announcement... of a sort

Need help pricing a Ford 900

Hey everyone. My father in law passed away this year and I'm trying to help my mother in law sell this old ford, but I don't have much of an idea how to price it. They had it for 20 years or so and only used it a couple times a year to spread horse manure. I believe it is a 960, since it has 5...

    Deere 750 front axle movement

Hi, I've been a member for awhile but have never asked a question before. There are so many forum topics that I'm not sure I'm in the right place. Anyway, here's the issue. My John Deere 750 4 wheel drive has developed some forward to rear slop where the axle hangs from the pivot pin. If I'm...
