  119. dj1701

    Do you have wheel weights?

Wheel weights are good for plowing, snow blowing, pushing or pulling, but weight on the back of the tractor is better for loader work. A load in the bucket will use the front axle as a fulcrum and take weight off the rear of the tractor. Weights and loaded tires will counter this, but not as...

    Best string trimmer string.

I have a Stihl cordless trimmer for around the yard. I love that thing, but don't love running out of string. I used the recommended Stihl line until this year when I tried some Makita string. The Makita seem much better to me.

    Kubota Treadle Pedal...

I only have experience with the Kubota BX treadle peddle. All my John Deeres have the side by side peddles which I find far superior. That being said, I have found that if I keep my heal planted and just swing my toe under the forward peddle and pull up, it works pretty well. I never have to...

John Deere 430 I just bought

My dad bought a JD 140 H3 back in 1969. The wheel weights you see on my pic of the 316 are the ones he bought. Was in the process of selling that tractor when I wondered if those weights would fit my new Kubota BX 2680. Well, they fit like a glove. Nice to know I still have some of dad's tractor...

How do y'all feel about Frigidaire vs. GE vs. Whirlpool

14 years ago, we replaced all the kitchen appliances with Whirlpool. Gas range/oven no problems. Dishwasher I had to replace a valve. The refrigerator is still going strong. All of them are as basic as you can get. I do have an ice maker, but we never use ice so that don't get used. The Sears...

John Deere 430 I just bought

I bought a used one a few years ago. It had some problems, but it was a beast. The hydro lever creeped, the power steering leaked, and the pivot on the front axle needed a bushing which I could not find. It would wonder all over. Finally sold it after a year and bought a Kubota BX2680.

Sounds to me like a new pup or new baby was introduced into his old family and he did not like that he was suddenly less important. Pros to having a riding mower over a zero-turn

I went to town last week and on my way, I saw a guy getting his ZTM pulled out of low spot with a pickup. 4320 Coolant Leak from Timing Cover advise please

It appears I had no timing cover leak. All the coolant was from the water pump which the bearing and seal gave out. It was a pain in the butt. Had to cut the bottom bolts off the radiator to get it out. Then remove the shroud, fan and pully. JD soaked me $317.00 for a new pump and I had to...

I too have this problem now with my 4320. The water pump is shot. I know I have to take the radiator off, but I am having trouble. Is frequent short term use harmful?

I don't know one way or the other. I'm sure you will get opinions either way. If we stop using a tractor to make our life easier, we are defeating the purpose of having one to begin with. Dave
