    Compact sub compact?

I've not had much luck with those "easy on easy off" belly mowers. It's been my experience they are anything but. Seems to be especially true unless you have a hard flat & level surface. Gets to be a pain taking off the mower frequently to do other jobs. I switched to 3pt finish mowers years...

According to the GM website, my 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 is involved with the recall. I have not yet received the recall notice. I wonder how long that will take? Poison Ivy cure?

I was allergic to poison ivy until my teens when I went on a boy scout camping trip. A few of the other scouts I was with thought it would be funny to put a poison ivy leaf in my sandwich. By the time I got home, my face had begun to swell. It got so bad, my eyes swelled shut and I had...

    Resharpen or Replace

So far, I've resisted the urge to mow less acreage and less frequently. I compensate for age, inconvenience and lack of desire by buying larger mowers and a cabbed tractor. I also use several techniques to make it easier to handle the larger implements. At some point, these measures won't be...

    Resharpen or Replace

95% of the cutting is done with the blade tips. Round sharpening may work on some mowers, but if I do it on my 3 spindle mower, it leaves an uneven cut where the blades overlap.

    MX5800 rotary cutter opinions

It's a Maschio 180SE The pic shows it on the L6060 but I also use it on the MX5800. Doesn't cut quite as fast as the Brush Hog, but it does a better job of mulching. It's also much more versatile since it also cuts ditches, banks and vertically along the tree line.

Yeah, I know, mower blades have been a frequent topic here but it's been awhile and I'm always interested in new opinions, products or ideas. For many years, I resharpened my blades with varying degrees of success. Usually, I get two seasons out of a set of new blades before they need...

    MX5800 rotary cutter opinions

I used a Brush Hog SQ172 behind my MX5800HST for over 5 years and had no issues cutting rough fallow pasture. The RPM drops a bit when I get into the 3 and 4" stuff, but it does the job. I haven't used it much since I bought a 72" articulating flail mower. It's far more versatile than the BH...

Best Product for Anchoring New Hoses?

IMO, you're more likely to snag a hose on something from below that you can't see. As long as you're able to see the hose from the tractor seat and it doesn't stick out beyond the rear tire, I wouldn't be too concerned. Many here rig some sort of hose protector plate to cover that area, but...

What machine, or equipment, can mow an uneven grassy pasture the fastest? Zero Turn?

    Flat all winter

Not sure about Fix A Flat, but Slime is water soluble and easily washes away. I've been using it for years and have had to work on tires & rims a few times. A garden hose quickly cleans it up. It's difficult to patch a Slime filled tube though. I usually don't bother and just replace the tube.

Both my Kubota MX5800 and L6060 tractors have DPF. Regen intervals vary depending on usage. Frequent low RPM operations cause more frequent regens but average between 50 and 75 hours. Regen is a non issue for me since it does not interfere with high RPM work operations. Time will tell if it...

Snow, Freezing Rain, Rain and then Snow. When to clear up?

2.5" of snow topped with .5" of ice from the last one here. I waited for the freezing rain to stop before plowing but the contractor who plows one of the driveways didn't. Unfortunately, he plowed a single lane of the lower half mile of our 1.25 mile private road to get to the driveway. I was...

OMG New fear unlocked, simply walking by my tractor...

Perhaps, but 25 psi is on the high side for filled CUT tires. I run 10 psi in mine and the top speed of my tractor is <20mph. No question you need to use caution with higher PSI construction tires at high speed. My point was, it isn't that much of a risk with smaller CUT tractor tires...

    Anorher lithium battery fire

It's difficult to smother a lithium battery fire since it generates it's own oxygen. The kitty litter might help contain the fire though. As others have mentioned earlier in the thread, I use a twist timer and never charge unattended. I go a step further with my large lithium e-bike...

OMG New fear unlocked, simply walking by my tractor...

Unless your tractor is a heavy piece of construction equipment, you are probably running 25 psi or less in your tractor tires, especially if they are filled. Not much danger of an explosion.

    New fuel can comments.

I'm convinced the well intended folks who designed these "safety" containers never actually used one.

Convert pto snow blower to engine

I assume your "bobcat" mount is on your front end loader (FEL). Is there a reason you want to use the blower on your FEL? Why not make a mount for the front of the tractor and lift the FEL up out of the way or remove it when you want to use the blower. That way, you could use a rear to front...

    New fuel can comments.

I bit the bullet and bought one of the $60 pumps. Like you, I wasn't happy with the D cell batteries so I used this adapter: It lets me use my supply of Milwaukee M12 batteries which are always on charge. I clamped it to the pump with a couple of U bolts: That way, the pump is just...

How do you store your outside generator?

Unless local ordinances prohibit it, there is no reason you can't put your generator inside an unoccupied enclosure. Just be sure you have adequate air flow and a good thru wall exhaust vent. I made space for mine in the back of one of the barns near the house. I added a carbon monoxide...

    Noco Chargers best sale yet

The Noco units come with a 24" fused cable set with battery clamps. It has a connector that can be easily disconnected so you can leave the short cable attached to the battery. Just disconnect it when you need to use the vehicle. I do this with both my tractors and just tuck the connector...

Front mounted brush cutter with open cab

With the roller on the ground, the deflectors keep flying debris to a minimum. The hammer flails occasionally throw a rock though.

Are CUT Manufacturers pricing themselves out of the market?

Prices will continue to go up as long as there are buyers willing to pay them. I'm on my 6th and 7th Kubota's since 1979, and the only one I paid full price for was the first. Maybe I've just been lucky but I received more in trade than I paid new on every one. Perhaps because my equipment is...

Front mounted brush cutter with open cab

The flail discharges to the bottom and rear when horizontal and to the left when vertical. In both positions, debris is thrown away from the cab but often ricochets off nearby fixed objects.

Will my 8'x8' shed blow over in the wind?

Years ago, I lost a 12' X 12' steel shed to the wind. It lasted almost 10 years before a squall with 50mph wind gusts took it out. I had it screwed to a treated wood platform that was anchored to the ground. The force of the wind just ripped the screws out, leaving the base intact. Much...

Front mounted brush cutter with open cab

Not quite the same, but I gave up using the offset articulating flail on my open station MX5800. Even with helmet, face shield and heavy clothing, I didn't feel safe. I got hit with too much debris that bounced off trees, rocks and the ground. Even the cab of the L6060 gets pelted. Haven't...

    Snow plowing season started.

I waited with this last one. Good thing too. 1/4" of ice on top of the snow before it ended. Would have been a real mess if I hadn't been able to plow it off with the snow.
