Watch when you run the tap in you don't go too deep. Yours could be different I can't tell but on the smaller BS engine the intake valve stem is right there, go too deep and you're into the valve. Ask me how I know :-).

You're for sure correct it's salt and water but I think that the maximum saturation percentage for manufactured brine is 22% (don't quote me on that number) before it drops out of suspension. I would assume the mixture made by driving over wet salt is less....possibly, dunno just guessing...

That's actually not an accurate way to measure flow as there has to be a backpressure or load on the system. You could measure 15 gpm with a worn out pump at zero pressure but the minute you put any load on it, it'll drop. As stated above, you need a flowmeter as it will allow you to load down...

I just put a small fused pigtail on mine directly to the battery, I park it close enough to power that I can plug a maintainer into it to keep it topped up......when I remember LOL. I was going to make an adaptor that I could use the trailer plug to plug into the maintainer but I didn't bother.

As was said, check the other side, chances are if they're all the same age that it could be on the way out also and it'll give you a chance to get the numbers. If you can't get the numbers you can measure it. 10 to 1 you'll find it's a standard size trailer wheel bearing.

That's ridiculous, the bearing and race number should be on the outer face of each part like in the attached pic. If not, either take the old parts with you to a bearing shop or take the sizes, the manufacturers don't make their own bearings. I've got no use for companies that gouge like that...
