    Shear pin

I came here with the same question. I'm very surprised the shear bolt spec is not shown in the owners manual, I've looked several times. Guess I'll go w/ 1/4" grade 2 or 5 but the short bolts I have on hand are full thread to the head and I don't like having the threaded part in the shear zone.

What would these 2 parts be called?

I had a similar issue with those pins and yokes on my 3510. I straightened out the yoke and reassembled it using shoulder bolts to eliminate the horizontal movement. It all works much better now.

    Backhoe Pivot Pin Issues

The pivot pin circled in red keeps working its way out. It does so with so much force that it shears the retaining bolt (or snap clip). I don't think it's a greasing issue because I've greased it. Thoughts?

    Weak Loader; won't stay lifted.

If piston seal failure results in the rod extending the internal volume of the cylinder will increase and needs to be satisfied. Since my valve didn't exhibit any problems when I switched ports it seems unlikely that oil is is filling that extra volume. If that's correct the only thing left is...

    Weak Loader; won't stay lifted.

The boom on my backhoe began drifting down (more than normal). I switched hoses between the boom and the dipper, in both cases drifting requires extension of the cylinder. The boom drifted at the same rate as before, the dipper didn't drift at all, suggesting there are not valve issues. There...

    Backhoe thoughts....

Currently only the lower 3 pt arms hold the subframe up. As you said, I could add structure so the trailer hitch holds it up I'm not sure I want to. When not in use it's kind of nice to be able to lower it to the ground just to take the weight off of things. We'll see, I might change my mind.

I built a dolly for my 3 pt post hole auger. It's just made from dimensional lumber but holds everything in the position I need to just back up to it, connect and go. I attached steel wheeled casters to the bottom so I can wheel it out of the way when not in use.

Will 10 Horsepower actually matter on the same size tractor?

Ram pickup engines. 6.4 L gas has 410 HP and 422 ft/lb torque. 6.7 diesel has 370 hp and 850 ft/lb torque. The diesel has higher towing capacity even though it has less HP.

    Linked Pedal Always On? (Solved)

Already fixed it, I welded a small guide tab to the end of the lever so it is now trapped between the 2 bars regardless of position. Can't believe this isn't a more common occurrence. Maybe it is, but like me, people don't realize it happening.
  45. R

    Linked Pedal Always On? (Solved)

Yup, that's exactly how mine looks. Wiggle that lever side to side, there's so much play that it's easy to see why it doesn't always find it's way "home". Also that spring is mounted so far offset that it puts a side load on the lever making matters worse.
