I came here with the same question. I'm very surprised the shear bolt spec is not shown in the owners manual, I've looked several times. Guess I'll go w/ 1/4" grade 2 or 5 but the short bolts I have on hand are full thread to the head and I don't like having the threaded part in the shear zone.

I had a similar issue with those pins and yokes on my 3510. I straightened out the yoke and reassembled it using shoulder bolts to eliminate the horizontal movement. It all works much better now.

The pivot pin circled in red keeps working its way out. It does so with so much force that it shears the retaining bolt (or snap clip). I don't think it's a greasing issue because I've greased it. Thoughts?

If piston seal failure results in the rod extending the internal volume of the cylinder will increase and needs to be satisfied. Since my valve didn't exhibit any problems when I switched ports it seems unlikely that oil is is filling that extra volume. If that's correct the only thing left is...

Currently only the lower 3 pt arms hold the subframe up. As you said, I could add structure so the trailer hitch holds it up I'm not sure I want to. When not in use it's kind of nice to be able to lower it to the ground just to take the weight off of things. We'll see, I might change my mind.

I owned my last tractor for 20 years, greased per the manual, everything worked like new when I sold it.

If a stuck pulley or faulty safety switch aren't the cause it may be lack of engine power. If it uses an electric clutch demand on the engine is almost instantaneous, it's enough to stall an engine if there isn't enough power to overcome it.

2 years ago I had my finger in the wrong place while using a log splitter. Here it is soon after being put back together, stitches all around and pins holding the flesh to bone. Needless to say I'm much more careful now!

Already fixed it, I welded a small guide tab to the end of the lever so it is now trapped between the 2 bars regardless of position. Can't believe this isn't a more common occurrence. Maybe it is, but like me, people don't realize it happening.

Yup, that's exactly how mine looks. Wiggle that lever side to side, there's so much play that it's easy to see why it doesn't always find it's way "home". Also that spring is mounted so far offset that it puts a side load on the lever making matters worse.

The lever is only trapped between the 2 bars when in the disengage position. When engaged the lever pivots upwards, at that point it is no longer trapped between the 2 bars.

I take it you can still get it to PTO RPM with the throttle, but sometimes it still goes above that when the pedal is depressed? That is exactly what happens.

For some reason that extra 4 hp doesn't equate to much extra torque. 3510 has 84.8 ft lbs the 4010 is 87 ft lbs, a negligible difference.

I moved a lot of packed dirt with a 5' box blade on my 29 hp JD 790, gravel is easier to move. Limiting factor was always weight, not power, I suspect the same applies to the disc. I don't think the extra 5 hp is going to make any difference in this application.
