    L4240 Hydraulic Pipe Blowout

Was pushing some brush yesterday and started binding up, reached for the shifter to pull back into neutral but couldn’t get it fast enough and heard a loud pop, through my earbuds playing music and ear muffs. I was hoping it was the yaupon I was pushing but the hot fluid on my arm confirmed my...

    Shuttle, hydraulic shuttle, glide shift?

L4240 GST here. Like mentioned above, can change direction or gear on the go. I’ve never used the clutch. 1200+ hours. From my research here they are supposedly very reliable and long lived transmissions.

    Oil Gauge Guide Replacement

My L4240 is leaking from the oil gauge guide. I have ordered the replacement part, #TD060-16615. Has anyone had to replace theirs? Looks like it’s a press-in fit with a screw to stabilize. Do I just pull on the old one out with pliers?

Land Plane with rear door/panel (like box blade)

Buddy has a 7ft LPGS I’ll borrow soon. Someone semi locally has a 6ft EA LPGS for $1500 (no scarifiers) that I might jump on. Cheapo versions around here cost that much or more.

Land Plane with rear door/panel (like box blade)

Thanks @Gordon Gould that looks exactly like what I’m seeing here. Looks like the tailgate is helpful. I need to try a box blade and land plane to see what works best for me.

Land Plane with rear door/panel (like box blade)

I just dug out 2 acres of pines and getting ready to clean up the roots and level it up to plant an orchard. I’ve wanted a land plane for my 1500ft gravel drive and know it will do well for leveling. Being able to move some dirt would help. I have a 6ft box on hand too. Will be the first...

Land Plane with rear door/panel (like box blade)

A local Facebook marketplace add has land plane graders with a flip up/down rear door (panel) I’m assuming to make it able to pull and carry material like a box blade. Anyone used one?

    L4240 GST 1,000 Hour Service

Been reading through the WSM and ordering filters and fluids. Can I expect to drain the full 11.4gal of hydraulic fluid? Or will it likely be a bit less? Just wondering exactly how much UDT2 I’ll need to order. Any reason to prefer UDT2 over 90wt gear oil in the front end?

PTO Top Link, is Kubota brand necessary?

No rear remotes 😕 Looked at Kubota at dealership. I think it is less robust that the TSC. But it does have grease zerks. I’ll try to keep it lubed. I’d love top n tilt and have priced it. Just shy of $4k for 3 valves, top n tilt, 3rd function loader stick. I have a skid steer with grapple...

PTO Top Link, is Kubota brand necessary?

I recently bought a used L4240. It had no top-link so I’m picking one up tomorrow. Kubota wants $356 for theirs. TSC is $58 That’s a huge difference. If the TSC gonna work fine? Is there any reason to pay $300 more for the Kubota oem?

Have tractor, need attachments for these tasks…

Yeah I wish we could get that cheap here. Long way from any mountains. But it’s been a gravel drive reworked and added to since the 60s. There should be a lot of packed in material there

    L4240 GST 1,000 Hour Service

Yeah he’s just checking for anything I might’ve missed. And will run on his dyno to test output. I ordered the shop manual pdf and will get part numbers together for the Kubota dealer to order oil/fuel/air filters and fluids.

    L4240 GST 1,000 Hour Service

I recently purchased a used Kubota L4240 GST with 1,100 hours. I took it straight to a neighbor friend tractor mechanic to look over. What major things should be assessed, adjusted, replaced at this point? Anything particular to check for wear?

Well, after some more research and thought I have in my EA cart: Post-hole Digger with 6” & 18” augers, Pine Needle rake, 42” Forks. Planning to borrow a land plane grader and dads box blade to work on the drive.
