A guy at the tire shop determined that the reason that tire loses air is that there is a rough area (likely damage from one of the earlier flat episodes) on the tire bead. He put 80 psi in it and there was no leak when submerged. But these tires are 6 ply and only rated at 45 psi so we dropped...
The applications where I think I'd like R14 are summer working in forest with soft ground, and early or late season snow when I don't have chains on. I have to travel on our road occasionally which is hard packed dirt and rock, so I can't leave the chains on year-round.
Way back in this thread rScotty mentioned using a dozer for building or fixing roads. I'll second that. I'm amazed how much a good operator (that excludes me) can get done in day with something like a D5. It will be safer and put you in a position to get a ton accomplished with your M62.
I have a 12 year old L5740 running the original R4's. I just got a flat on a front tire while plowing snow, and the tire came off the rim while I was moving up to a spot where I could park without blocking my own access. This tire has 2 patches already and I'm guessing one failed. I am...
Something like the Westendorf VP-72 or -96 would cut rock hard drifts pretty well. They can supply them with a skid steer quick-attach mount. V-Plow | Tractor Attachments | Westendorf
Dropped my tractor off at a Kubota dealer last week. The service manager said 20 hours, plus or minus. So that will be around $2000. I had a couple pails of SUDT2 that I left with them, at least I won't have to purchase that now.
Did they give you an idea of how many hours to split and repair? Are they going to replace both the engine and transmission seals while they have it apart?
EDIT: Was yours leaking engine oil or hydraulic fluid?
I was in love with her yesterday..... today I'm not so sure.... feels like she dumped me. Parked the L5740 in my shop this afternoon and the puddle of condensation from the AC caught my eye, then "What's that?" Several drops of black oil. Coming from the clutch weep pin. So looks like...
That's something I didn't even think of. I would have guessed it would take forever to remove enough material, but apparently not.
I am using a variable speed AC powered drill but the angle grinder is a good option too. Thanks everyone for the suggestions-- the holes were cut originally...
I want to enlarge four 13/16" holes in 1/2" thick steel to accept 7/8" pins. This on a piece of equipment so I have to use a hand drill. I happened to have a 15/16" black oxide bit, not too surprisingly that doesn't work at all. In 10 minutes I only penetrated about 1/8" in one hole. So I...
