You Know You Are Old When

On most prescription bottles you can turn the lid upside down once you open it and it no longer functions as child proof. That's what the threads on top are for.
I can't imagine there are many people unable to operate a child-proof cap, while also having the hand strength to pry apart that cap.

I've considered using short stainless machine screws to couple the outer cap to the inner one on those evil types of bottles.
Is the rest of the world plague with this stupidity?

Child-proof caps are generally a good thing, in that kids used to pretty frequently get into their parents medicine cabinets and start eating the pretty colorful pills, thinking they were candy. I remember at least one neighbor kid doing it, when I was young.

Probably not a terrible idea that the elderly have trouble with them as well, as various forms of dimentia are usually preceeded by arthritis, in those so affected. :ROFLMAO:

My grandpa was a barber and had no lack of customers in that era. At .25-.50 cents a haircut at that! Lotta flattop guys back then....

My dad was a barber, too, but only during his early college years, 3 year WWII interruption, late college years, and a few years after that for side money. He was an architect by trade.

My uncle was a barber.... took a huge knick out of my ear when I was about 8 and I bled like a stuck pig. I didn't go back to a barber until I was a Junior in high school! šŸ˜›
Population of the town was 200 at the time. The last prices I remember him charging in the early 70's was $2 during the week and $2.50 on Saturdays.

you struggle to open a child proof medical bottle.
I can't imagine there are many people unable to operate a child-proof cap, while also having the hand strength to pry apart that cap.
Prescription bottles not so bad, but OTC stuff (aspirin/Tylenol, etc.), yeah. Not because of hand strength, but not always obvious ways of getting past the lock...sometimes you'd have to squeeze in just the right spot, other times press down and turn.

Household chemicals (bleach, paint thinner, etc.) even moreso.

YKYO when your mother cooked meals in a dress.
Mine usually used a frying pan. :ROFLMAO:
I don't EVER remember my mother wearing a dress around the house, even back in the 50s. To work, yes but not around the house. Ditto for friends' mothers. Maybe a city/suburbia thing?

Speaking of cooking, YKYO if you remember when it wasn't considered "manly" to be able to cook, except maybe outside grilling. My father was just a shade above helpless in the kitchen. Likewise when it came to doing laundry.

Wouldn't it be easier to just put them in a different container?

We have this tool for removing the locking portion of the cap. It is easy to use.
