Dealers Not Accepting Some Brands on Trade

Yanmar could have been one of the leading name brands instead of Kubota if they hadn't pulled out of the US market back in the 1980s.
The deal w JD was too good for them to pass up.
Instant market share, name recognition and huge dealer network.
It would have taken them many, many years to develop that kind of name recognition if at all.
Think about it: what were the odds of someone buying something called “Yanmar” as opposed to “John Deere”?
Your next question should be”then why did they buy a Kubota” whose translation means “ sunken rice paddy”? My premise was the color that sold that tractor. It was the same color as most of my construction equipment toys in the early 50’s.
Psychological coincidence perhaps.

You're making a real big assumption, princess; a damn ridiculous one at that too.

It's real easy to reverse this and accuse you of lashing out due to paying exuberant prices on equipment and machinery because it gives you a warm and fuzzy; to suggest that you have insecurities that you cover by spending more money than needed to project a certain image to those around you.

Does that make it right? No, I'm pulling that out of my arse, just like you did.
Well, twinkle toes, I’ve been around here about 10 years longer than you and Ive seen threads like this before. Most of the comments in them are about the same as the ones here.

I was going to buy a JD or a Kubota so I could have a big ego as well, but turns out the Kubota dealer didn't even bothered to leave his chair behind the counter and JD knows their compacts and sub compacts are so capable compared to all the other brands that they don't even bother to stock anything smaller than the 5E series in most countries, unless special ordered.

Another interesting fact about JD is that they used to have great compacts from 2000 to 2010-ish. They were made by Goldoni, painted JD green and got JD stickers on it. JD offered 0 support on those tractors. They don't even list those on their online parts catalog.

Ended up having to buy a "junk tractor because I couldn't afford the overpriced ones" that sucks, it's not capable at all, can't even pull my 2 shank ripper buried all the way to the frame. 🙄

Going to sound odd for me to even say this, but I called a Kubota dealer last week to ask about a used L3400HST as a possible replacement for my Mahindra 3525. The salesman actually was nice to talk with and knew the history of the tractor because he had traded for it. He said he doubted I'd be happy with the L3400 for mowing with a 6' cutter on my hills. When I asked about prices on a new L4701 and a MX5400, he told me the prices without any hassle.

Unfortunately, the new prices are too much for me, but I'm still shocked compared to the other Kubota dealers I've called where it seemed like I need to know a secret handshake or something to get them to even talk about what they have for sale.

Maybe they should have called their brand "Jon Meere."

There was a time back in the 90's that if you had a Kia, Hyundai, or Daewoo, you'd have a hard time trading it in.
Hyundai went from one of the lower rated new cars to near the top in a matter of about 3 years when they changed their warranty. When people weren't afraid of getting stuck with a dead car after 4 years, the cars sold very well. There's a lesson there for tractor manufacturers.

All I know is, if I was a dealer selling say TYM tractors, I'd be hesitant to take anything else on trade unless it was a well known brand like New Holland or Kubota for instance. Easy to resell.

The days of gate keeping are over and some dont realize it and some are angry. I can have a capable tractor and start doing real farm work without going 70K in debt? OK
Its evening the playing fied and it makes people crazy. Back in the day if you wanted to learn to weld you need to spend 5k on a welder, so sorry. HAHA today you can go to harbor freight buy a $800 mig welder an lay beads better than the yahoos with their 7k miller or lincoln.
