The deal w JD was too good for them to pass up.Yanmar could have been one of the leading name brands instead of Kubota if they hadn't pulled out of the US market back in the 1980s.
Instant market share, name recognition and huge dealer network.
It would have taken them many, many years to develop that kind of name recognition if at all.
Think about it: what were the odds of someone buying something called “Yanmar” as opposed to “John Deere”?
Your next question should be”then why did they buy a Kubota” whose translation means “ sunken rice paddy”? My premise was the color that sold that tractor. It was the same color as most of my construction equipment toys in the early 50’s.
Psychological coincidence perhaps.
