Yes. SMART/experience goes a long way from preventing such things from happening.

But sadly not enough every time, every day. I know experienced operators that are dead because of a moment of carelessness or an unforeseen consequence.

Yes, it's SAD. My thinking. Too many people working with such equipment for the first time in their lives. Chainsaw, tractor, whatever. It's not an AP! It's not a cordless drill! And then there are those, that should simply not use any equipment. Totally out of their element and always will be. Same with some drivers, yet they drive and have a license.

I hate my rollover protection on my open station tractor. It's trying to kill me catching branches and swinging them back at me. But I won't take it off for this reason. I've disabled all the other safety things on my tractor, seat kill I can't stand! But, I won't take off the roll bar because I've seen too many videos of a either accidental or intentional rollover. It happens SO fast and it's also so easy to do on land that looks "fine" to me. Wheel in a hole you don't see brush hogging on a slight incline, over you go. Now, I don't wear my seatbelt on an open station, so I'm not sure if the ROPS would really help or not, but, it makes me feel good to know it's there, more room to possibly survive if the thing winds up wrong side up.

I don't put my tractor in that kind of position. But, if I did, I would certainly wear my seat belt with the ROPS. I bet since the late 90s when we got the JD, I have worn the seatbelt less than a dozen times.

let us know what happened when you die..

Considering the presumed fact that if someone is killed in a rollover in Canada or the US, and we will probably hear about it on here, then I would say with the number of tractors in regular use, it's hardly an epidemic if I can use that term loosely.

How many does smoking kill? Or automobiles? Sure it's unfortunate, but let's keep it in perspective.

That's why people try to quit smoking, and why automobiles are equipped with seat belts and other safety features. To keep things in perspective; you're a lot less apt to get run over by a train if you don't spend your free time sleeping on the railroad tracks.
