Assume (incorrectly perhaps) that it was taken down by the OP because it was getting off tangent with HOA's, but why was it taken down?

The reality is HOA's and easements are a big issue living in a rural area and it's something everyone should at least be aware of IMO.

The biggest benifit from a forum on the internet IMO is the access to information and first hand experience by people participating in that forum. By deleting the thread in question, IMO you're doing a dis service to it's forum members.

Pehaps a thread should be started on HOA's and easements, so if anyone has a question pertaining to those subjects, they can read up on the horror stories.

Recall the thread about easements a decade or so ago? While one-sided it gave much food for thought.

Yeah, I hope it wasn't taken down because it went on a HOA tangent. In fact, OP responded and made a good point as to why a HOA was established (to prevent a next-door motocross track ). I have no problem with tangents, people can always skip over them and return to subject. Often subject has been resolved or beaten to death anyways. I realize not everyone agrees with this opinion though.

Perhaps taken down because it was a blatant real estate ad , and not really a topic, or a question, or an invite for discussion? Any comments that weren't compliments (Aww....Nice property buddy!") (example: remarks or questions about the HOA) were met with a backlash from others.

If it was taken down because it was home for sale ad, I agree.

However, because it did go off on a tangent per HOA's, to me, that's pertinent information that ANY home buyer should ask or look into, which is why I thought the thread should stay up (at that point). It's a VERY relavent topic IMO when looking for homes in "the country".

Start up a new thread! "What to watch out for Country buying". First reply, - Get a tractor with real oil in it. LOL.

It will probably start with "Easement" or "HOA", not certain what will come first.

Can I have a tractor with real oil in it parked on my easement in my HOA?

I was enjoying that thread just like I enjoy the easement threads.
To me it is educational and insightful.

I dont consider what happened on the house thread to be off topic. A tangent, yes, but discussion of an HOA was on topic.

When an OP posts a topic, there is no guarantee where the discussion will lead.
This is a public forum with a lot of members. The members have varying degree of knowledge, backgrounds and experience.

I consider this place "a wealth of knowledge "

I always thought of HOAs as more of a "suburbia" thing. A big part of why I live in the country is to get away from that nonsense.
