guess im not immune just mowing , no rocks or trees - this time clean break. I saw so old threads and nobody has come up with a direct replacement - just thought I would ask again
Just went through this. Mine was around 14 years old. I found the gear set and output shaft from another supplier for substantially less. Had to order JD shim kit to make it work. Guy that helped with the replacement suggested would have been less expensive and maybe better long term if had just replaced the entire gear box. He didn’t seem to think it would have been any trouble to reuse the existing stump jumper. If mine fails again I will likely go with a different gear box.
That is same kit I used. Had to order shim kit from JD to get gears set correctly. If I remember correctly, if you have to order be sure you specify for the correct shaft, input or output. Due to miscommunication between repair guy and I had to order again delaying repair a few days. The shafts are two different diameters.
