L3600 GST stuck in 4x4, advice please

Then it's probably a good purchase at $10K. But hey, I'm like you, I'd go with a serious Poker Face on and green money. They obviously aren't too proud of it or they'd fix it and get $12K.

That's the plan Richard and I like your $7500 idea

Let me know how this ends up. I'm interested to see how firm the dealer is. And if you get it bought, I'm very interested in hearing the "fix". :)

Will do Richard. I have them whittled down to 8700 + tax over the phone. They think they have it sold but I'm still going to beat em up some more...

You might get lucky, and it might free up. You could lift the front wheels off the ground and jiggle things back and forth. Alternatively, you could remove the front driveshaft for a while and see if things "unwind". Or you could get lucky, and the linkage is just stiff. My 4wd lever is stiff to engage/disengage. I have to remind myself that it takes a sharp snap to do the deed.

Let us know how things turn out.

PS; It might be good to look at another L3600 GST to see how it feels to disengage the 4wd, how much force is required, and the length of travel. BTW that GST is a cool transmission.

PSS: You might get some advice on TBN from Kubota owners.

PSSS: It would be good if you could talk with the previous owner either before or after the purchase.

I thought about the "unwind" thing. It's an assumption on my part that the OP would know what that is and have eliminated that cause??? Being a solid engagement mechanism, if the powertrain is simply "bound up", you will not be able to move the lever........ This situation is easily remedied by backing up if forward motion was the last action. Or driving either direction a short distance while sawing the steering wheel back and forth.

If by some miracle that's all that is wrong, I wouldn't admit that to the dealer during the price negotiations....... :)

Driven an M9000 and M7040SU and they go easy in 4x4, but harder getting out. Often have to rock tractor back and forth to get the rod to push down and disengage. Not a big deal, but not able to disengage when stopped or moving along at speed.
