Thoughts on mounting a 2500b winch on BX?

Beautiful. I had the pleasure of working on the west coast. Near Perth. Loved it. Great diving at Rottnest Island. Snorkeling at Mettams Pool was also great.

Now, back to the tractor.

Okay an update here... finally got a chance to pull the winch out of the box for a brief inspection and also glance at the tractor for mounting location. I walked away a little disappointed.

A couple issues... I wanted to mount it on the front. There are two unused through holes in the brush guard and frame. Problem is really two-fold... first the FEL cross member in the lowered position is very close to the brush guard.... second the hydraulic cylinder for the bucket is located directly in the center so even if I had the room, I won't be able to locate the winch spool in the center.

Thing is, the winch itself is pretty compact already. Dang it!

Well now it reads like you have a chance for development of your welding and fab skills!! Plus maybe throw in a tool purchase - bandsaw? good clamps? portable welding table for $59?

Oh I do plan to weld up an attachment bracket just need to figure location (the hard part at this point)... don't need the HF welding table as I already salvaged an old craftsman tool box that was thrown in the metal recycle pile at the dump. I added a 1/2 steel plate top and HF caster wheels. And hammered and bent the drawers until they worked reasonably well. A tool purchase you say? I am always up for that!!! Just did buy a Milwaukee portaband saw and mounting table from Swag Offroad. What do I want? Shield Arc's lathe! Here is my portable welding table... Got a vice on the end that can be quickly removed.

Hey 3point, thanks for posting the link! I finally got around to viewing it. Wanted to during my long trip but in China you cannot access YouTube (the government blocks it) along with a few other sights such as Facebook! Even google was shut down while I was there. They have an army of people watching what websites are being accessed real time and a decision is made (while you wait for the connection) as to whether it is allowed or not.

Anyways, a very long and in depth how to video! I watched the whole thing and learned quite a bit. Thanks again. :thumbsup:

Okay been eyeing the front underside of my BX thinking about mounting. Here are a few views... question I have is what is the lower frame detail for? Obviously some kind of hook up. The two vertical members are about 8in apart and plenty stout for mounting (5/16in thick). Curious to what mounts to it? Looks like a QA type of mount is possible. You can also see that there is virtually no room for the winch to be mounted off the brush guard with bucket on so underneath is appealing now with a QA.
