One difference is the work port size is 3/8 in on 4902, and 3/4 in on the 5902 plate.

Either adapter should be used with a power beyond capable spool valve. Both the PB port in the HV5902 and return port of the HV4902 will feed the tractor's 3pt hitch. If the HV4902 plate is selected, run the return flow from the PB capable spool valve into the tractor's hydraulic fill plug.

i've seen as low as 200 psi aggravate a non PB type valve. some of them just were not designed for downstream pressure on their low pressure return line.....

So is the hv4902 the better adapter to go with one hose from the adapter to valve one hose from valve bach to the adapter plate only 2 hoses compared to the hv5902 which has 3 hoses does this sound right

If the return port on the two port adapter plate is feeding the 3pt, then it is a high pressure/PB port.

So either plate will work. Your choice as to how many hoses to run.

Running 2 hoses puts the new spool valve at risk from backpressure created by 3PT use as Soundguy mentions. That's why I recommend using a PB spool valve and 3 hoses to connect it to the tractor. It matters little which plate is used.

You are going to get back pressure when ever the 3pt is used, and if the 3pt relief is activated, the full tractor relief pressure will be felt up stream.

So essentially, the port has been seeing back pressure since day one.

To check this out, put a gage in the IN port in a tee, on first valve in the hyd system and you will see any pressure developed in the hyd system.

He should use a valve with PB irregardless of the # of ports because of the return port limit of about 500 psi.

If the standard valve with PB is used as a two port valve, [ with PB plugged ] the cyl expended fluid and pump flow would still flow through the OUT port, which is limited.

In this case, you would plug the return port and use the PB port without adapter, because it is high pressure capable.

Most manufacturer say the return port should go to tank, although we know the older tractors, using a two port valve, the OUT port went back to the 3pt. Maybe they were made tougher.

let me get this straight if i use the pb with two ports just one line from the tractors hydraulics to the control valve then plug the return on the control valve and put another hose back from the pb on the control valve to the second port on the tractors hydraulics. only 2 hoses

That's right if using the two port plate.

The valve should not have the PB adapter installed.

I would get the 3 port adapter to be more safe.

Why do you not want to run the return /out port from the remote valve into the tank/reservoir? No back pressure if done correctly.

You are going to have pressure on both ports anyway at some time.
