Removing the FEL on these things is extremely easy, it is the same on the BX up to the M Series. I can have them off in well under five minutes. I have taken mine off a couple of times a day. It is easier on a solid flat surface, but I ave done it on the dirt and gravel, just takes a little more practice.

Yeah the dealer showed me how easy that would be, I suppose I could just drop the FEL mow, then re-attach it. Space will be tight until I get a shop building put in but that's going to be a couple years off.

Yeah, I drop the FEL on my L5740 to mow among the trees or on flat ground then put it on to mow the hills and levies. We keep the FEL on our M8540 as the farm on which it lives has a mix of hills and a little relatively flat land, so it's just not worth the small amount of time. We mowed with the BX and loader a couple of times and quit, we now have one we leave the FEL on and MMM off and one set up strictly for mowing, these are my wife's and she likes them that way.

I have been looking at wood chippers because I'm going to have a LOT of limbs and brush to deal with but they are not cheap. Dealer says they sell a 5" that works well with this tractor. But we are allowed to heap brush into a pile and burn it here so I may opt for that instead. No snow here to speak of I think we had 1 inch all winter. Phase 1 I need to clear brush and small trees from 1 acre, then dig and move a bunch of dirt from point A to point B, level and landscape. Its a new house so there's no yard yet and the builder did minimal grading.

I'm thinking it will be easier to remove the FEL for mowing? Should be able to build a dolly for it no problem and I have cad/cam software so I'll probalby draw up plans.

FEL removal is really easy and it actually stands up pretty nice and is easy to line up. I've only needed to remove it once to fit under my deck to carry firewood, but it was super easy. In terms of the wood chipper I had the same concern with expense. I looked at a bunch and decided on the bx42 because it has a 4" x 10" chute, meaning I never have to trim anything down to size and the way the blades are setup it self feeds without needing the hydro feed. Its a great match for the tractor and while you can stall it with a really hard piece of max sized wood fed too fast, it handles pretty much whatever will fit in the chute. I ended up going used, it took a few months, but I got one that was a few years old, but barely used for 2k. The only downside is it's JD green! I find it's easier than burning because you don't have to transport anything, you just toss it in and it's chipped on-site, VS dragging everything into a big pile.

For mowing I'd recommend using 2wd otherwise when you turn the wheel the front tires dig in. Also definitely have the BH off for lawn work. The FEL isn't really noticeable weight wise on the tractor, but the BH is VERY noticeable and raises the center of gravity a lot, so on hills I always have it off and try not to drive with it on the lawn. On the other hand the BH is the best ballast you can get, according to the Kubota website it weighs around 1400 lbs.

I read about 2wd vs 4wd when mowing, and the dealer called me yesterday as he forgot to explain that the BH really needs to be off for mowing. Here's a question about how many hours do you get on a tank of diesel?

Tough to say exactly, as it doesn't burn a lot of fuel. Depending on what you're doing you don't need to run the machine at PTO RPM, so for most loader work, 3pt work, BH work and plowing I am around 2k rpm. At that speed it really sips diesel and I believe the hour meter is based on RPM, so the hours don't add up much. At PTO RPM it uses more fuel, I haven't measured because it takes so long to use a tank of diesel, but I'd say that 4 - 6 hours of PTO speed uses maybe half a tank, but that's just a guess. I'd guess it may be using around a gallon an hour at full speed under load and far less at lower speeds. I've been really impressed at how fuel efficient it is.

The B2920 is very frugal with fuel for all around use in my experience. I often fill the tank, do a day's work, and it's barely at 3/4.

The only time I really notice fuel consumption is when running my chipper (Wallenstein BX-42) for hours at a time, at PTO RPM.

That's good to hear that its easy on fuel. You know I have been looking at chippers and splitters but just read in another thread one guy's opinion was running a pto splitter wasn't worth the hours/ware and tear on his tractor when he could split all that wood with a $1,000 stand alone splitter. I suppose the additional hours on the tractor is something to consider.

Congratulations on the new tractor.I used to have a Wallenstein BX42 woodchipper but sold it after about a year.I found it was easier to just push the brush into a pile with the FEL and burn it.To use the chipper I had to cut all the twists out of the limbs or they could jam in the chute.I found it very time consuming, and hard on my back,to feed all the brush into the chipper. Then I still had a pile of waste to deal with.I know some people really like using a chipper but I find it easier to burn.

Would you mostly be leaving the backhoe off? I ask because my owners manual says to drain the tire fluid on my B3200 when installing a backhoe.

That's been a topic of discussion on here a few times with no clear reason why. I asked my dealer who said it doesn't matter. I think maybe with no fel and a bh with loaded tires maybe the front gets light. I always have on the FEL with the bh and have operated in some steep and tough environments with no issue.
