How about having a option to turn off any of the nonessential things that irritate you.

The option is there on some vehicles if you know how to program them. You can drive around all day in my 06 Ram without the seatbelt on and not hear a thing. Another thing I shut off as soon as I got it was the doors locking as soon as I put it in gear. Unnecessary wear on the actuators if you ask me. May be needed in the slums somewhere but not out where I live.

You can but only in a truck made for the real workers vs one made for the bean counters...

You can only get a Ram with a manual but it is a detuned Cummins:thumbdown:
Chrysler has always had more manual trans trucks on the road than the competition I think.
Ford has a manual in the Superduty behind the 6.2 in South America.
A Ford with the 5.0, 6.2, or Ecoboost, Ram with Hemi, or GM with the 6.2 with a 6 speed would be a fun to drive truck.

It's still 650 lb.ft which was the max you could get just a few yeaes ago. Plus I bet the power to the wheels is much closer than you think without that power robbing torque converter. RAM used to offer the 6 speed HEMI combo but only in the 2500. Hopefully they will offer it again in the new 2013.

They will not be offering the hemi and the manual in 2013 I hope to see that in the 2014 maybe. Ram seems like they are starting to listen to their buyers. I have the 2012 with the manual and it is not detuned. It is what they offered as max torque until 2011.5 when they offered an HO. It has more than enough power. I did just put my mini max on it. Mainly for the throttle response. I will not delete the emissions. I don't agree with them but they really aren't that bad either. I get 17/17.5 running 75 mph. With the mini max it's saying 19.5 but won't know for sure until I run this tank out and calculate by hand.

I have seen two 6 speed Hemi 2500's around here.

I don't remember what year they stopped but I know they haven't offered the hemi with the 6speed in 3 or 4 years now.

It would be nice if you could get a manual trans in a truck.

You guys can have that also. My first two vehicles had them, a car and a truck. I will never go back. Tough in my line of work to pull a boat pushing 25,000# from the drink with one. And with todays autos versus the ones we had just 10 years ago there is no advantage in my eyes.

Not surprised, I bet if Ford stopped selling trucks with windshields you'd say wearing goggles is better too!
There's plenty of advantages and longevity is the top, along with manual engine braking, more direct power to the wheels, cheaper MSRP, and 10 points added to your man card which should replace some lost by having a "man step".

Also, the RAM has hill start assist so no roll back and has a lower 1st gear. G56 has something like 6.29:1 vs 3.23 for the 6 speed auto.

Actually one was a Ford but you should have known that since you know everything about me. Lol

I personally don't care for a stick. Grew up on the farm and was riding dirt bikes at 6, tractors at about 10, and vehicles with a clutch not long after. They just dont appeale to me.

Now Dodge guys love them because that was the only chance they had to get a transmission to last and they had to derate them to accomplish that.

You could use 4 low to pull out of the water which you should be doing with a auto too.
