I would like to test my rebuild out before I install it in the tractor. Just to be sure everything checks out and fix any trouble now. I see on you tube that this can be done. Has anyone here tried to do this and also what is the right way to do it? It is a 3.152 Perkins out of my Massey 35.

We did this on car engines by making a complete test stand. Its a lot of work to do it right, not for a one-off.

I considered buying or building a test stand to break in my Massey 135 tractor's Continental Z-145 gasoline engine, but decided to wait until later. Here's what I found as a source for inspiration... they aren't cheap.

That's pretty neat ours was much cruder than that but it did all engines. We charged 150.00 back in the 70s to test run your engine.

It's totally redneck, but you could set the engine in an old tire, hook up the radiator or a garden hose, then connect the wiring to a battery and go. It ain't pretty, but it does work. Something like this...

Alternatively, you could modify an old pallet, hook up the radiator or a garden hose, then connect the wiring to a battery and go. Something like this...

Well, since I am an official redneck, that's perfect. I just need to figure out the fuel thing.

An old lawnmower gas tank can be used to supply fuel, or one can get creative and use an inverted 2 liter soda bottle with a pipe nipple through the lid. Connect a piece of rubber hose, and you're off to the races.

Why do you want to test on a stand?
