Kubota B4200 rear PTO modification for a tiller

Hello Folks,

I have just purchased a 1988 Kubota B4200 to replace a 1978 Turf Trac with a tiller and mower etc. I am selling the Turf Trac without the tiller as I want to use it with the Kubota. The Kubota has a six spline 1 3/8" x 2 1/2"male PTO shaft offering power at the rear. The tiller has a 3/4" x 3/4" female drive shaft. Any ideas how I can join the two?

Also, the Kubota's PTO driveshaft has a plastic sleeve on it which appears fixed and seems to prevent its use. I do know that the PTO has never been used and wonder if this is some kind of protective cover. The plastic is pretty heavy. Do you know what purpose this serves?

Splt the existing drive shaft. look at a new shaft that has the standard spline and see if the new spine end wioll for in the old tiller end of the shaft... Then make sure you have the proper lenght.

I now want to retain the existing setup for the Turf Trac so that it can also run the tiller as well. Therefore I am looking for a setup to adapt it to the Kubota.

Did the Turn Trac have a 540RPM PTO? Many of the Bolens, Cub, etc PTO machines had 2000-3600 RPM PTOs.

As a general rule of thumb, if it has a small PTO, it probbaly spins faster than 540. If you cant find any info, a HF Photo Tachometer is $35

It is just like you said, a protective cover. It is a thick hard rubber. It should slide off, if not, a razor blade should cut through it so you can remove it.

The cover on the PTO unscrews... It just keeps the dirt off the spline...
