What size trailer do I need to haul my B2920

Another vote for an 18 or 20' trailer. 10 K is a good idea if you have the tow vehicle to take advantage of the extra capacity-7 K would be enough to do the job.

I found where the weight of the Tractor with FEL and BH is no more than 4200 lbs

Looking at your truck data, it looks like you would be over the trailering weight(4800lb). Based on my 16' 7000lb trailer, that is 1600lbs. Your tractor is 4000lb. You'd be looking at 5600lb load, maybe 5700 with chains and binders. That is almost 1000lb over your tow rating.

You mentioned loaded tires too; guessing maybe 300lbs per tire? My current tractor is much larger, and has 600lbs fluid per rear tire!

If you add a few hundred pounds extra for an 18' trailer, then you are way beyond 1000lbs over your trucks rating.

Does your truck give a separate rating if you use a weight distributing hitch?

How often do you need to tow the tractor?

Thats the crux ...not very often. First time I have had to since I got it. Trying to help a good friend dig some drainage ditches ....I know if I found the right fit I would use it more.

No seperate rating for the distributing hitch ..... I really didnt want to go buy a new truck too :confused2: ..... This ones a 2000 and I just turned 40 K.....

Researched this insanely here when buying a tractor, B2320 with 4' hog, FEL, rear blade. I wanted smallest trailer possible but listened & got a 18' dovetail. It is none to big & hauls easy. I now believe these guys e.g. 'get big as you'll need in future' at least as much as that works for yer situation.

Sounds like a load for your truck. Figure I'm pushing +5500# easy with rig + trailer w/o loaded tires.

18 footer, 7,000lb or 10,000lb depending on your budget. Brakes on both axles.

I pull my B3030 around with FEL and BH attached on an 18 foot dove tail (AKA: car hauler) 7000 lbs with brakes on both axles. The tractor fits fine with no over-hang and I can pack an extra implement under the FEL (bush hog) if needed.

The trailer pulls nicely behind a 1/2 ton Tahoe.

It is not published, too many variables. Go to the truck scales and weigh your truck. You will find the GVWR and GCVWR on your door panel or in your manual. Subtract your truck weight from the GCVWR and that is the maximum your truck is capable of pulling as a combined vehicle. Look these definitions up for more detail than I can type, should be in your manual and posted on net in various reputable places. Philip.

You have a 9500# GCVWR, assuming your truck and you and not too many other things in it (go to scales), I am assuming your truck weighs 4500#. 9500# - 4500# = 5000# of trailer towing capacity. Now, how much does your trailer, tractor, FEL, backhoe, loaded tires, plus anything else weigh? Also, what is your maximum tongue rating? Should be listed on hitch. What is your maximum rear axle rating? Should be listed on door panel. Go to scales with truck, get weights. Go to scale with truck and empty trailer, get all axle weights. Takes some work on your part (we can only do so much), but you will figure it out. Here is an example of what you need to do. Philip.

Nobody really emphasized this but I would ensure whatever you got has good electronic brakes and you have a good controller in the cab. I pull around my BX1830 with the FEL, tiller, and misc things and also my friends toro dingo with lots of attachments (thats near your weight) on a 16' double axel and it works great but it has great brakes. My friend has a similar trailer and pulls with a very large pickup but his trailer doesn't have brakes and it makes for a much scarier trailering trip. It seems every time we have that trailer every moron in the county pulls out in front of me last minute. As an fyi I got my trailer from Agrisupply (made by Shivers in GA) for around $2k and I love it. Max load is 7.5k.
