Really smart move on the dual water lines Obed...you are one clever builder...hang in there..
Bob,
That decision was a last minute one. I thought about it while I was putting in the first sleeve. For $100, a second water line seems like cheap insurance.

At the end of the day I still had 2 tons of sand to unload out of the back of the truck. We will need to use the truck to go get tile before we can fill the waterline trench. So I spent 45 minutes unloading the sand using a shovel, maddock, and hoe. Each tool had its benefits but there was one common denominator associated with each tool - a tired back.

Might it be a good idea to lay a wire in the trench to aid in locating the water pipe with a metal detector, if need be in the future?

Don

A small piece of rebar hammered into the ground will also work. Kinda like the land surveyors do.

Don, hopefully with all of the pictures that Obed took he should be able to find everything underground. Hopefully!

Take a piece of 12 guage wire or something similar and lay it in the trench. keeping the ends exposed where they come out by your connections. You are too deep for a decent metal detector, but a guy with a tone machine can find your line in seconds.

Yesterday when we were looking at tile samples in the trunk of my wife's car, these 3 yellow jackets showed up out of nowhere on one of the tile samples.

We assumed that the big bee on the bottom is a queen yellow jacket. There are two yellow jackets on the back of the bigger bee. They did not appear to be fighting. If the big bee on the bottom is not a yellow jacket queen, then it is a yellow hornet. If the big bee is a yellow hornet, then we probably were witnessing a fight. The bees were not trying to fly. It looked like the the two yellow jackets on the back of the big bee were mating with the queen. However, we wouldn't have expected mating to happen this time of year.

The electrical cables between the transformer and the outdoor electrical pedestal and between the pedestal and the house got pulled through the conduit today.

The green box is our transformer. The utility company came out today to unlock the transformer so the electrician's helpers could pull the cable between the transformer and the meter base panel located on the pedestal. One of the utility company employees noticed that the meter base the electrician's workers had installed was the wrong type of meter base for our area. The electrician had to buy a different meter base this evening and will install it tomorrow morning before the state electrical inspector arrives to approve our house for an "early on" permit.

The tile guy installed the cement board for the master bath shower today.

The master shower will have 2 shower heads in it, each on opposite walls, so we can shower at the same time if we choose. One of the shower heads will be attached to a hose to make cleaning the shower easier or to faciliate showering while sitting down.
