Checked my local Home Depot, Lowe's, Tractor Supply & another locally-owned place, & these are the lowest prices I got for each:

4"x4"x8' #2 PT $6.97 Home Depot
1"x6"x16' fence boards aka corral boards $6.97 Home Depot
200' roll of no-climb (2"x4" holes) wire fencing $250 Tractor Supply

With tax, equates to $4.12/ foot ...

And, I'd like to fence about 3,400 feet worth

It's a shame the local places can't compete better with the Big Boxes. The local place is only 2 cents a board higher for the fence boards, so I'll probably go ahead & use them for that, even though they're further away (HD's only 2 miles from me) & would probably make me want to let them deliver instead of me picking up.

Is the no-climb the same as 2x4 welded wire fence? I got a 100' roll from Menards a few weeks ago for something less than $100....can't recall the exact price, but I think it was less than $90. It is supposed to be 12 ga. I haven't broken into the roll yet, and the label is bound up in the roll so I can't read it, but it seemed kind of light to me and might be 14 ga.

No, not the same.

The 2"x4" hole is the same size, but welded wire's wire overlaps are welded, whereas the no-climb (aka "horse fencing", so horses can't climb it) wires are twisted where they overlap (you can actually un-twist them with pliers if needed, like when you need to wrap the individual horizontal wires around a fence post to secure it).

Here's the only close-up picture I could find on the 'net, a rusty old one:

check lowes, they had a similar to redbrand 2x4 woven wire a couple of years ago. it was not as strong as redbrand and was 1/2 the price.

Check Lowes for 5/4ths x 6 x 16 deck boards, they were about $5 this spring and have rounded edges (less splinters).

With that quanity talk to the commercial sales desk, they will come off on them and the posts. I would try to find round core posts, I feel they hold up better and warp less TSC or lumber yards should have them. TSC will also drop the price on volume.

Also keep your eye out for coupons, Lowes has a 10% off in the usps change of address kit.

TSC get on their mailing list and they send out some 10% coupons from time to time as well.
