L2550 Kubota
Keeps on chugging
Model Year: 1986

The tractor was well used by a landscaping company who traded it in on another Kubota. It came with a used Woods 60" Brush Bull. I added a Woods rear blade RB72, and later a Woods a Woods 60" landscape rake and Woods 5000 chipper/shredder for road and landscape maintenance in a heavily wooded area. Perhaps the greatest addition was a tooth bar for the front in bucket that has allowed me to move and carry logs and crawl out of tight and muddy spaces. The tractor handles all the equipment very well and has been very easy to maintain, which is good since my son used it as a bulldozer when clearing his land. Even though the machine was well used, perhaps abused by its previous owners, it is as strong today as it was when I bought it over 11 years ago. Because of its inherent quality my next tractor would also be a Kubota.

Pros: The shuttle transmission on the L2550 makes operation much easier.
Cons: No rear hydraulics on the L2550

Awesome machine. Have a 5' Land Pride cutter, 6' Bionic Blade, 6' root rake and 4' box blade that looks like a toy (LOL!).

Pros: Does everything I ask. Worked hard!
Cons: None.

L2550 Kubota
Kubota L2550 GST Has Been Very Good to Me
Model Year: 1992

I use this tractor for splitting wood, plowing snow, moving rocks, excavating my leach field, plowing my garden, moving dirt and gravel. It is pretty good sized for my needs. Sometimes I wish it were bigger, and occasionally I wish it were smaller, so it must be about right. I use a PTO wood chipper (8") and log splitter. It would be nicer to have rear hydraulics for the splitter. A lot of people step on the brake too hard, and go past the parking brake ratchet. It's a little bit of a pain to release by yourself. I have had very little trouble with it, but it is getting older, and some parts are getting hard to find.

Pros: Good maneuverability. Powerful. Easy to use.
Cons: No rear hydraulics. Easy to over-step parking brake.

L2550 Kubota
My Kubota
Model Year: 0

I live on 12 acres and bought this tractor to build fences on my property and all the heavy work rotary hoeing for a veggie patch slashing the fields. Drilling to plant trees etc; Maintaining our gravel driveway. My grandson is always working on cars and he uses it all the time. I am not a farmer, just like to have a bit of space to do things. My tractor is actually a L1-20DT gray market tractor.

Pros: Invaluable piece of equipment.
Cons: Having to repair it when something goes wrong, but I have been lucky in that regard.

L2550 Kubota
Sunshine ZL1 255
Model Year: 0

I picked this tractor up from a local dealer in Somerset, England, for work around our smallholding. It is a compact tractor of about 30 hp and came with a front loader, rice paddy field tires and later learned that it was so-called "grey market spec". Saying that, it is a fantastic tractor of high quality and build, and will last me till I drop! The only drawback is I had to remove the sunshine roof, because it was made for the average Japanese guy and I still need to get round to fitting a ROPS.

Pros: Expensive but worth it.
Cons: No manual, so hard to match parts etc.

L2550 Kubota
Kubota L 2550
Model Year: 1987

This is a very flexible compact utility tractor. I like the four wheel/two wheel drive capability and the power steering especially. The diesel engine is a bit noisy, but probably to be expected for that year. The center of gravity is a bit high and the wheel spacing is a bit narrow for hilly country. It is a huge upgrade over the Ford 8N that I had. The cab is nice to have, although the rear plastic window obstructs view somewhat. The gear ratios are superb for what I do: moving dirt, moving rocks, moving logs, leveling ground and landscaping. First and second gear in low range are great for going up and down fairly steep slopes.

Pros: Power, flexibility, ease of use, fuel economy, quality of build.
Cons: Narrow track, fairly light weight, high center of gravity. I suspect that, no matter how big the tractor, I will always want a bigger one.
