Just a passing observation. Whatever you are using on the gravel around your yard and driveway is doing one Hell of a good job. I don't think I've ever seen gravel that smooth. How often do you see gravel smooth and hard enough to be used as a basketball court.
Locally, it's called 2RC modified. It's a mix of crushed stone, 1" down to dust. It's heavy on the fines, which makes it pack well. It holds on the level but tends to wash out on the grades.

I also plow off a fair amount during the winter. I have to use the rake to pull it out of the ditches and back onto the roadway. The ripper is necessary to level the surface every spring, or after a torrential rainstorm. I try and do it when it's wet to minimize dust. That way, vehicle traffic packs it down quickly.

I did these sections yesterday, but still need to do the ditches. We're supposed to get showers today, so it should pack down in a day or so.
