Convert 70's tractor to quick attach plate, use original mount?

I've seen SSQA attachment assemblies for sale but can't for the life of me remember the companies. They bolted directly to your FEL and you were ready to use SSQA equipment. Some online searching may find something but I have a feeling it may have been a vendor on here? Maybe someone else can...

    Mowing acreage.

I have a ZT, 60" brush hog and 72" finish mower. If the job is big enough, the finish mower is by far best option for me. 60" ZT does a nice job but beats the heck out of me on bumpier fields.

    Starting problem click click

Is it the solenoid that's clicking or something else? Press your finger on the solenoid body and try to start it, you'll feel the clicking if it's that. If it is, it's the solenoid at fault. You can take them apart and clean up the copper contacts but it's probably better to just replace.

    Anyone mow hay yet?

I still have about 5 acres to cut, all the stuff I baled a few weeks ago is sold but this lot still standing is, yeah, tall and soggy. Never a long enough break in the wet and cold. A couple of farms close to me with hundreds of acres to cut have a lot of it knocked down by the wind and rain...

I have hay on the ground. Hoping to rake and bale tomorrow. I seem to remember the first regen being at 25hrs, then I think roughly 18-20 hrs after that each time. When using the PTO I run it at 2500/2600 which is 540. Hydraulic pump noise on 8N

    NH634 bale density.

Is there a way to adjust the bale density on a 634? The bales were 'ok' but could do with being tighter. And how much would the type/condition of the grass affect it?

    Ford 542 hay dog.

Well, it had to be done. Thanks @TractorTech for the link. I found a pin at a fair price too but still had to buy the spring from Messicks which came in at $80 shipped. If anyone hears of a 542/532 being parted out, please let me know. I have a feeling I may be needing a few odds and ends!

    Ford 542 hay dog.

I recently bought a 542 as a back up/ sideline machine. It’s old ( no sh*t Sherlock!) and tired but I’ve managed to get it tying ok now but bales are loose and mis shaped. I discovered the lower right hand hay dog, spring and pin are missing so I’m guessing that could be my tension issue? Does...

That’s great info, thanks. There is oil dripping from that weep hole and the clutch ‘sticks’ a bit. When you depress the clutch pedal you have to wait a few seconds or more for it to free off. Doesn’t seem to slip though. On going project!

Sorry guys and gals but I just bought an 8N so now I have lots of dumb questions! Firstly, what year is it? Got moisture?

Yes, nearly all of it broke with a few exceptions that were thicker stems from shadier areas. Checked moisture again last night and it generally seemed lower slightly, temps in the bales were a few degrees lower too.

    Wait or cut?

    Wait or cut?

@Hay Dude what do you use to spray hay fields with? Have you had customers who say their horses won't eat it because of lingering taste/odor of herbicide? Could I spray now and it be ok for a second cut in a month or two? I've used Graze-on before (which is now DuraCor(DuraCon?) but there are...

Sealed or serviceable bearing: your choice?

Like round balers!! Dozens of bearings and all sealed, not one zerk fitting to be found! Metal shielded at that so you can even sneak a little grease in there.
  118. Southernspeed

Sealed or serviceable bearing: your choice?

I like the rubber sealed bearings for dust exclusion but I pop the seals off one side, squirt grease in there and reseal. Some cheaper sealed ones have barely any grease in. Metal sealed ones have their place in life but just buy good quality ones. Having said that, if the application allows, a...

    Got moisture?

It’s very random. I’m checking each bale in several spots and depths. In the ‘teens is the exception, maybe two thirds of readings in the 20s, rest in the 30s. I guess the warmer they get inside , the more humidity they’ll have? Temps in bales yesterday evening were mid 90s. Some bales in my...
