Its a good tractor EXCEPT the push-button starter module shuts off the engine after about and hour - just stops and wont fire again until sometimes it will run again for another hour - but eventually it quits again. When it stops there's no fuel supply and no spark.
I found a relevant video...
SUDT (or UDT before that) is quite low-viscosity high-priced fluid. If there's a viscosity problem, its more likely that the fluid put in was not SUDT but a cheaper oil of some kind ?
Depending on how heavily you will use this tractor, just installing inner tubes might be a way to go. Many rusted rims are still quite strong and safe to use, even if not air-tight. 28" rims & centers are getting rare and ex$pensive.
On my neighbor's L3450 I attached a length of 6" channel below the two loader struts under the floorboards. Each end is a step point. Easy, cheap, & strong. Neighbor loves them.
Back when my computer had a hand crank, there was a thing called the Kubota Board.......where user input was handled over the net - whoah! I remember using that for some years before Muhammad started TBN. My join date says 2000 but a lot of us were here a while before that.
CORRECTION - and apologies! I now realize that the L4600H Kubota uses a modified version of their mechanically controlled HST WITHOUT solenoid control of F & R motion. It uses a hydraulic regulator valve to control speed, with direction selected mechanically by the foot pedal linkage tilting...
Just saw this - the HST in that tractor is controlled by solenoid valves under the floorboard. Look for a loose or disconnected plug or some such. There's likely a fuse too. Could be simple.
The older HST's were strictly mechanical/hydraulic so repair can get spendy - but electric control...
I'm coming late to this discussion - the OP said the clutch rattled - but did not say the tractor fell in half - just a couple bell housing holes had broken out. The housing is ductile die-formed mild steel, easily weldable.
For now I'd suggest a low cost repair - putting a temporary brass (or...
Now THERE is durability! Given that hour meter cables don't usually last beyond 1000-1500 hours, it likely has even more.
Lets hear it for K's older machines!
On that series of Lxx50 models with vertical exhaust there's a 1/4" weep hole on the bottom of the exhaust elbow that's intended to be a drain for any rainwater that goes down the stack. Seafoam running out shows its working.
Hi cchoate1
Congratulations on installing the BH90 on your L3430 - great looking outcome!
You've done two good things here - first, tackling the parts puzzle with little help, and second, posting the story to help others. As you found, adapting a subframe backhoe is a fair amount of doing...
Readers may wonder how this turned out - the OP has verified in pm's the pto does not engage and spin when the engine is running - which points to a non-working main clutch (or failed pto over-running coupling). Loader and other hydraulics seem to function normally.
Another thing to check...
These 2-way dampers wear out and stop working in one direction, then both. They're important because they soften the pressure spike inside the hst when F-R shifts are abrupt.
Does your steering still operate easily and smoothly left-to-right-to left with the tractor running but not moving? If its jerky the front-most pump may have a suction leak - which could make the hst stop shifting F - R. Check (tighten) the connections at the pump.
